What Would It Take For You To Buy/Renew?
The Clippers are in the dumps.
Before they were a team that showed sparks of brilliance. The only reason their record was so bad? Injuries of course.
But now, with the team healthier, in their loses there is no joy. Even the consistently great Gordon seems to be getting pulled under by the all mighty Clipper curse. Seems like he may finally be hitting that wall he has eluded all season.
The rookie wall? Maybe. The wall of Dunleavy? Maybe more so.
Before, I would get down after the losses but cheer up after a good victory and think to myself, "This team could really be good next year!"
But now, even if the Clippers win a game, there is no joy. There are not enough games left for them to win to give me confidence towards next year.
What's going to happen with Dunleavy?
If Baron is not the right fit, is he getting traded?
Then what do they do about the Point Guard position?
Are they really going to build around Zach Randolph?
What are they going to do with Camby and/or Kaman?
There's so much uncertainty when you really think about it that it's hard to latch on to anything Clippers other than the name itself. It's like the Seinfeld shtick about being a fan of the jersey. The players change, the coaches change, the owners change so in the end many fans are really fans of a jersey or logo or maybe the city.
I was a Brand fan. I was a Kaman fan. I had high hopes for Shaun. I loved the "swagger" Sam brought.
Who is this team I renewed for this year? What team will I get next year?
I am not renewing because I like the name or logo. I need to know who my Clippers are. So with the team in doubt, I do not feel inclined to renew my season tickets.

There are worse options
Isaiah Thomas working for the clips as reported by ESPN
I've sat through some horrible season with the Clippers
And a few good ones. Enough to keep me renewing. But there have been so many problems this year that it’s tough to think about giving any more money to Sterling.
I work awfully hard for my money and I buy tickets because I love the game. Then haflway through the year tickets are being offered at 20 to 30% of what we paid for them. So what’s the motivation? What genius thought this up? Let’s sell a few hundred tickets to the games and alienate our season ticket holders. I can get a better deal by NOT renewing.
Now I’ve complained about this alot, and it’s not because I’m cheap. Honestly, if Sterling wanted to donate 1,000 or 5,000 tickets I’m all for it. I could actually be proud of supporting THAT franchise. But to make a few thousand dollars a game just underlines how cheap he really is. And it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.
I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen Sterling walk by fans who have paid huge amounts to sit on the floor who actually want to shake his hand and say hello, he just waves them off and ignores them.
I’m sorry, his attitude, the product and the price points just don’t add up.
I feel your pain...
who have you complained to about these new discounts that they are offering? I too am a STH, and it just makes me mad every time I get an email for discounted tickets. I am seriously contemplating complaining to my ticket rep. Although, I am not sure this will do any good.
Do or do not. There is no try.
Same
Tickets were actually 50% off the other day. They should be upgrading or comping some of us STHs extra tickets. I’ll probably just buy some individual tickets next year unless we pull off some miracle this off-season and actually make some good moves.

I am in
the 200’s, so technically my tickets are already 50% off (with the 2 for 1 deal), so I am not sure I actually have much to argue. However, if the lower seats start getting the 40% to 50% discounts…now that is something I can bring up. I did get upgraded for ONE game this season too. I am sure if I badgered them some more, I could get more upgraded seats, but that is not the point. They should be trying to please me, with out me provoking them. Why would I keep giving them my hard earned money when they just take it and run?
Do or do not. There is no try.
I'm in a lower section...
and the face value of my seats are 100. I get them for 70. There were a few games this year where they were offering 150. seats for 35. That’s like paying 17. for mine. Tell me, just how ripped off do I feel?
Like I said -donate the tickets! Get more people, donate to kids that wouldn’t be able to come to a game otherwise. But to sell for crazy less than what STH paid is the poorest business decision ever!
I did complain to my rep. and didn’t get a response. But I didn’t get a response when I said I’d coach the team for 10k per win either.
Wow Richie
Good point about donating. Who knows how many of those “cheap” seats they are selling while angering the faithful STHs! However many they are selling it can’t be worth it – most of the games are still 60%+ empty.
I, like Clip Show am in the 200s so I already get the two for one deal but I still feel ripped off when I get the emails for $20 seats in the 100s (albeit behind the basket) or whatever the price is…
I am still 90% sure I will not renew. If they somehow offered us better seats for the same price or less maybe I would think about it but otherwise I’m going to single game tix or some kind of make your own package type of deal if they have one next season…
What section
are you in Moki? I am in 218. How long have you had your seats for? I am having a hard time convincing myself to NOT renew my tickets. I have been in my seats since 2001, so I have been able to pretty much maximize my seat location, although after this season, I may still be able to upgrade to even better seats. I am going to call my rep next week and see what they can do for me. I won’t hold my breath though.
Do or do not. There is no try.
Moki is in 209
I am there for half the games as I split my seats with someone this year. I’ve had tickets since 05-06 so definitely not too high on the priority list so if I lose it – oh well. There are so many empty seats I can’t imagine how bad it would be to decide mid season to get tickets again if they start showing signs of life.
Even worse
I bought extra tickets for a game BEFORE the start of the season when the Clippers ran their special for STH, BEFORE tickets were made available to the public. Planned to take the whole family. Imagine my surprise when two full rows in front of my tickets were EMPTY. They had released these seats a week before, which went unsold…three months after I bought my tickets.
Even Worse
A few years ago I went to renew my tickets and when I called I was told they already sold them!
Then when I got another rep to sell me seats they acted like they were doing me the hugest possible favor. And those seats were in the 17th row my seats the year before were row 3.
Before I rag on the entire franchise, I have a great rep. this year, and the people I’ve met this year seem very nice and knowledgable. But what’s it going to matter if I can buy the same tickets for 70% off if I just wait?
Before I could afford full season tickets
I used to get the big game package. It’s not a bad deal and you get to see all the best teams. You won’t get a discount like $100. seats for $20. but you’ll get to see the Lakers, Cav.‘s, Celtics, Hornets etc… and then it won’t hurt so much if the team really sucks.
As for donating tickets, why not? Think how many kids would love to go to a game. They could go to the boys club or girls club or donated to high schools as awards for kids on the honor roll – or something. Really, there’s so many different things you could do other than pissing the STH’s off. And it would be a great business decision.
how much
how much are your guys season tickets n location?
Face value of $68
But you got two seats for the price of one in the 200 sections on either end of the court, so basically half off for buying a whole season.
