In advance of the Blazers game, this FanPost came from a Blazers Edge reader. The answers are great. MiledAnimal is correct - the same kind of question on many other team blogs would have brought out a lot of animosity, so all of the citizens of Clips Nation who eloquently explained their allegiance are to be commended. If you haven't read the comments on this one, you should. Steve
I'm not a troll. I asked this at Blazers Edge a few days ago and it truly puzzles me.
- We had Mike Dunleavy as a coach once and Mr. Charisma he is not.
- Donald Sterling is renowned as the worst owner in all of sports. (When it comes to winning, I should add. Financially he is probably the best.)
- The Clippers joined the league in 1970, the same year as the Blazers, but have zero championships, conference titles, or division titles, have only had seven seasons at or above .500 during all those years, and have only made the playoffs seven times.
- The Clippers share the Los Angeles market with the Lakers, a championship-caliber team with a rich winning tradition, yet you root for the Clippers instead.
Why, Clippers fans? What is it about this team that you find so endearing? How did you get to be Clipper fans? Given Sterling's track record as the owner, do you really expect your team will contend for a championship someday? If not, why do you continue to support the franchise?
