Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

All Clippers Fans' NBA 2nd Team

With our beloved, but frustrating, Clippers out of the playoff run, would you still watch the NBA playoffs?  If so, which team are you going to follow the most?  Any predictions?

Star-divide

As for me, I'd be following the Dallas Mavericks.  I've always liked Dirk Nowitzki's, Jason Kidd's, Josh Howard's, and Jason Terry's game.  I just like the Dallas' personnel overall (although Cuban's shenanigans, are at times, nauseating).  So yeah, I guess I'd be following the Mavs next to my occasional Dodger telecasts.

I've been telling every laker fan I know...

that it’s gonna be orlando and New Orleans in the finals! So I’m gonna watch those two teams and hopefully the blazers, and hawks too. I’m sorta apathetic about every other team…

LOL DA WORST PREDICTION EVER

are u serious? NO cant beat SA, utah, … it will be lakers vs cle or boston……. lol ur funny man

by kaynam20 on Apr 8, 2009 8:35 PM PDT up reply actions

you're really gonna put down a soon to be 60 win team in orlando like that?

I think they have as good a chance any any team in the east… as for the west, the playoffs if all about matchups. This is that i predict…

1 Lakers
8 Dallas

4 Portland
5 SA

3 Houston
6 Utah

2 Denver
7 New Orleans

2nd round
1lakers
4 portland

3. houston
7. new orleans

3rd round
4 portland
7 new orleans

finals
7. mew orleans
3. orlando

I could see Portland pulling off the upset

They are a bit young but have excellent talent everywhere. They could get some stage fright playing against the Lakers though or they could be oblivious to the pressure (and really they have none, no one would expect them to win the series). They will definitely be contenders for the next 5-7 years as long as their key guys stay healthy.

Orlando is good

but they really screwed up by paying as much as they did for Rashard.

I agree

but I think they have a real good shot right now, especially when they’re hitting their shots.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

orlando wont be able to defeat clev or boston… if pistons were healthy they will wipe out orlando…. howard is not shaq…hes stoppable n his lack of offensive game downlow will hurt him again

portland cant beat da lakers…. they never beaten da lakers… no matter how talented their lineups are… bynum is back tooo

Blazers have a shot, albeit a small one

I didn’t think the Cavs could beat the Pistons a few years ago either, the Blazers have a very talented bunch and the Lakers could be hurting their chemistry with Bynum coming back so late. I would say the Blazers have a 10% chance of beating the Lakers, not a good chance but they do have a pulse.

a few points...

number one, portland has beaten the lakers, by 17 I might add, on March 9th.

second, orlando has also beaten cleavland 2 out of the 3 times they’ve played this year by double digits. ( jan 29th and Apr 3rd.) Also, the season series is tied 2-2 with boston, so there’s that.

Oh ya, and I should also point out that orlando beat the lakers both times they played this year.

it doesn;t seem like you know your basketball kaynam20, so you must be a lakers fan…

also, we dont know if orlando will ever have to play detroit...

like I said, the playoffs are all about matchups. Detroit seems pretty far away from the 6th seed,.. 2 games back with 4 to go.

Mark Cuban

I’m probably in the minority here but I like Cuban, he’s the kind of owner I could support. If he bought the team tomorrow I would renew my season tickets immediately as I know the money would go into the team and not directly into his bank account.

I pretty much look at him as a guy who won the lottery and was then able to fulfill his wildest dreams (in this case hook up with hotties and buy a professional franchise).

I like Cuban too

in the way he cares about his franchise.

owner cant own more then 1 nba team, wouldn’t mind him over sterling though

by shoothoop on Apr 9, 2009 12:49 AM PDT up reply actions

I know

Its a dream scenario, I would actually buy season tickets the season DTS kicks the bucket and we have a new owner.

Not wishing ill on anyone, even him

but he is 72 or 73. I’m taking the same approach Raider fans have with Al Davis.

If i was on the mavs

I would hate cuban he sits right behind there bench that cant be cool hes like everywhere the team is and if i played for the mavs i think it would be anoying like im sure most of them do

by masonjoussa on Apr 8, 2009 7:30 PM PDT reply actions

Well

I think his annoyance is a small price for how much his players are earning. I sure would’nt mind if I earn as much as they do (or even just half as much as they do :)).

I’m sure that his players appreciate how concern Cuban is with his team as well unlike Sterling, who only talks to the team when he feels like crapping on them.

I think he is just a very big fan

I don’t think he is out there giving them pointers on how to play D etc. Plus thanks to him the Mavs have state of the art everything.

If only

all of us fans could purchase a share of the Clippers. That way, the team is runned by fans and not the Donald dictatorship.

Miami

I have faith in Wade to somehow pull out some crazy wins in the playoffs. He is fun to watch

by ClipperMyth on Apr 9, 2009 12:08 AM PDT reply actions

Yep

Wade and Lebron will unquestionably be better than KoME in two years but the Faker fans will never admit it. Some of them are delusional enough to think KoME is better than MJ.

by ClipperChuck on Apr 9, 2009 4:37 PM PDT up reply actions

i dont really understand when people try to do the whole wade/lebron compared to kobe. kobe’s a lot older, with lots more mileage on him so to compare him to one of them is kind of dumb imo.

by shoothoop on Apr 9, 2009 4:51 PM PDT up reply actions

Present day

they are all pretty close although Lebron seems like he has another level (or two) to go. Wade’s supporting cast isn’t as strong but they have alot of options in 2010 (maybe add Bosh to go with Wade?).
