Beasley over EJ for All-Rookie Team?!
How can anyone possibly justify putting Beasley ahead of Eric Gordon in any rookie standing.
Beasley the immature, selfish, kid beat out EJ?! What I saw at the rookie-soph challenge disgusted me. EJ beats him out in nearly every category, plays defense well, has maturity beyond his years and yet got snubbed for Beasley?!
I suppose a "winning season" has a lot to do with it, although I wouldn't call the Heat season spectacular.

I think it has to do with position
Winning seasons have nothing to do with it….I’m sure memphis, OKC and New Jersey had great winning seasons…………
Unfortunately for EJ, he’s a guard….with Mayo, Rose and Westbrook around…it would be hard to have a 4th guard that people thought about.
Al Thornton was first team last year, so it has nothing to do with winning records. Thronton’s play’s are more highlight reel worthy…so that helps.
This is going to be my team, and we're going to rise together.

Positions
don’t matter for the all-rookie team. The coaches are instructed to pick the top 5 rookies, regardless of position.
This is utterly ridiculous that Beasley is first team and EJ or even Kevin Love were not.
Do or do not. There is no try.
Positions do matter
They are not going to pick the 4th best guard as “1st team”. Have you seen an All-Rookie Class with 5 guards? I don’t think so. Brook Lopez has the rebounding stats that EJ doesn’t have….because they play different positions. Let’s face it, EJ is at best, the 3rd best guard in this class.

doh...
I just saw steve’s fanshot below… I could have sworn I looked.
beasley is a really good player and would have had a much better year if he got more minutes, but the coaching staff refused to start him all year because they wanted humble the kid a bit, i love gordon, but beasley is a great player and there is a reason that heat are in the playoffs and its not all wade
Beasley has kind of disappointed me. I thought that he would have had a stronger showing this season (I had him as most likely ROY heading into the season). I understand that Spoelstra reduced his minutes, and that hurt his overall numbers. The thing is the All-Rookie team should not be based off of per-36 minute stats. MVP or DPOY are not based off of that, but what is actually shown on the court. Gordon did more on the court than Beasley did all season. Gordon also had a coach that barely played him when the season began. It wasn’t until Mobley was traded and Davis was hurt that Gordon really got the opportunity to get on the job training. Gordon has shown his worth and has pretty much outplayed all other rookies in the 2009 regular season games. The only thing he had going against him is that he was on this dysfunctional team.
EJ not making 1st team
doesn’t surprise me. If think he is better then OJ and Westbrook but OJ is more known by the writers and Westbrook has more highlights. But really the rookie awards don’t matter much we will all see who ends up being the better pro.
In Gordon we trust
beasley is good
let me just start out by saying i am a big gordon fan and i think he had a great year. but have u watched the playoffs beasley is the second leading scorer on a playoff team. he just had a huge game with 20 plus points and 15 boards. he has scored double figures in 4 of the 6 games this post season and the games he didn’t have double figures he played less than 20 minutes. i like gordon alot but i don’t know if he could perform the same way on a winning team the way beasley has. also this is one of the best draft classes so second team isnt that bad when looking at the big picture.
I agree that Beasley is a talented player, and I think that he will be a force to be reckoned with down the line. He’s not there yet though. He’s also not at Gordon’s level as a player yet. In one of those less than 20 minute games, he shot 1 for 9 from the field. He has shot 35% from the field in this series against the Hawks. 68 points on 76 shots. That’s not efficient. Beasley plays less minutes than a lot of the other key Heat players, but he also attempts more shots than them. During the season he played over 600 less minutes than Gordon and still managed to put up more attempts.
That’s the part of his game that really irks me right now. Most people walked away from the Rookie Challenge, noticing that he’s a selfish player right now. Hopefully he grows out of that. Here’s a quote from Draft Express’ Rookie Retrospective:
“The selfishness we documented in Beasley’s high school and college performances has translated itself in some situations because of the increase in isolation plays created by the shorter shot clock. Ball movement still stops once it reaches his hands, and he rarely looks to make the extra pass to open shooters. If he wants to become a more prominent NBA player and warrant more help defensively, Beasley will need to become a more efficient team player and look for help from his teammates in half court sets. "
Riley and Spoelstra are trying to help mold him and make him a better player in the long run, but there is a reason he was coming off the bench and getting the limited minutes that he was getting. It’s not only because he is a rookie (Chalmers started every game), and I’m sure some of the other rookie bigs (Lopez, Love, Thompson, etc.) would have been granted a few more minutes on this Heat team.
