Camby for...
A lot of people want to move Kaman and I don't think it helps the team present and future as much as it would help them by moving Camby. Camby has a lot of trade value and is off the books after next season. With all that taken to account, I'm proposing to trade Camby for Tayshawn Prince from detroit. They don't have Rasheed Wallace next year and probably aren't looking to bring him back. Iverson is gone also. They really only have two valuable veterans on the books, T. Prince(09/10,10/11) and Rip(09/10). I think it makes sense just to blow it up for them and try to build youth with Stuckey, Afflalo, Bynum, Maxiell etc. I would even love to do camby for rip straight up if possible and have rip back up gordon. Either way I think we become better with any of those two players. I would sweeten up the pot with a 2nd rounder for Tayshawn if it came down to it. I would even throw in Minnesota's 1st rounder in there if they were playing hard ball. Tayshawn is worth it....What do you guys think??? Any other trade ideas???

Sounds like a good deal
then Al would come off bench. Prince could bring some locker room leadership.

...and some defense...
SP has been pimping for a Kaman for Luol Deng trade but I like trading Camby better. I think if there was any way to make the salaries work you might look at Andre Kirilenko as well (though he is horrifically overpaid).
More LA kids?
I was told this was a bad idea.
"So what are the odds that the Clippers can compete next season given their limited flexibility? Slim and none."
I like it...
Not sure that Detroit would. It’s hard to say what they’re going to do of course. But Camby for Prince doesn’t help them much next year – it would be little more than a roll over of the cap space to 2010 (which might not be a bad idea). I think you might have to include the first rounder to make it happen. (With a LOT of lottery protection – no way you give up a top 5 Wolves pick.)
In this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. - Elwood P. Dowd
I think Detroit might do it
because they see that the formerly great Piston team is falling apart and will not make a run at the championship next season. So why not make a move in 2010 and try to become relevant again. And also if they were willing to trade Billups I could see them trading Prince.

How do you lottery protect a protected pick from another team?
It’s just one pick, lottery protected until 2011. When it comes due, it’s the Clips or whoever they decide to trade it to. I suppose you could give them one of your two picks the year you actually receive the Minny pick and make it the later of the two picks, but that’s a lot of dancing.
Tayshaun Prince is the 3rd best on a championship team type. Hes really not going carry a team or make a big enough impact offensivley to help us win more games imo.
We wouldn't be trading for a star
we would be trading for a defensive presence and a leader which we desperately need. Also this would allow for Al to assume what I think is his more natural role of 6th man.

Good Teams
pick up guys like Prince to push them over the top. Bad teams that pick up role players to push them over the top end up as mediocre (at best) teams with salary cap problems. The Clips are not a good team right now, and Prince would not change that.
To become a good team, the Clips will have to wait out the Dunleavy era and hit a few home runs through the draft. We should not trade lottery picks unless it is for star players that also fit needs.
How about...
Camby + Ricky + #3 (or 4, or 5, and/or Thornton?) for Richard Jefferson + #10 (or without)?
Bucks then will for sure get that $15 million coming off the books after next season, and a higher pick in this draft.
Clippz get a pretty darn good SF, and probably still a decent player at #10 {Perhaps Earl Clark will still be available? (NBA Comparison: Boris Diaw/Danny Granger)}. — or without the #10 pick?
Think they’d go for it?
Would you go for it?

You might be correct...
but he still produces. Clippers have the 2nd lowest team salary in the league. I’d be willing to take on Jefferson’s contract just to solidify the SF position. He expires in 2011, along with Zach. Not that big of a risk.
Not that any of this matters, because everyone is going to be injured again next season, anyway.

Deng or Hinrich?
The Bulls have two big contracts in Deng and Hinrich. The Bulls also want to throw a max offer at Dwayne Wade in 2010. I’d offer Camby two the Bulls for either of those guys. Camby is a huge asset right now and I really don’t see the point of not moving him. Letting guys walk is something the Clips have always done and I hope it doesn’t happen here.
Deng would be a nice scoring forward who knows the game and has a great mid range jumper. This would allow Thornton to come off of the bench and do the one thing he knows how to do which is score the ball.
I really prefer Hinrich though. We could run with a nice three guard rotation with Baron, Gordon, and Hinrich. Hinrich seems like the perfect Dunleavy guy as well. And if we ever wanted to move Baron we’d have a veteran that play’s D, doesn’t turn the ball over, and hits is open 3’s.
By moving Camby for a guard we could then use our MLE on a wing player to either start or come off of the bench. The SF spot is really loaded this off season and a lot of teams may not be willing to spend because of the economy and everyone saving for 2010. We could throw a MLE offer at a guy like Ariza, Artest, Childress, Marion, and possibly Odom.
We could also try to swap Camby for the guy we originally wanted last year, Josh Smith. Smith doesn’t get along with the coach in Atlanta and this move would allow the Hawks to move Horford to his natural PF spot. This move in the long run also would save the money strapped Hawks about 30 million in the long run.
Whoa... Hinrich... really?
I think Chicago makes that deal in a heartbeat. But Hinrich’s still a backup point guard at ten million for four more years. Makes no sense to me.
Hinrich looked pretty darn good in the playoffs
Lets not forget that Hinrich was a team USA camp invite. His first off year was last year when the entire Bulls team had an off year after all of the Kobe trade talk. This year he had a nice year and played great in the second half coming off of an injury. The only reason he doesn’t start is Rose. Many other teams have been linked to Hinrich to take over the starting spot.
He’s a smart player that doesn’t make mistakes. He’ll also get up on the opposing player on D and he does a nice job of defending bigger guards. He can play both guard spots and Hinrich with our two starters would form a nice three man rotation.
I’d rather trade for Hinrich than trade for a wing player like Prince. There are a ton of wing players in free agency that can be had for the MLE. This might be the first time in our history that we have the MLE so lets hope the team uses it.
I’d also be fine with just keeping our big guys and addressing the SF and back up guard spot in the draft and free agency.
I mentioned before..
that I think Caron Butler would be a nice player to trade for. Im not sure how high Washington considers his trade value, but Camby and a piece (probably Al Thornton) for Butler and change (maybe a pick, maybe Crittenton?) would be a pretty good deal for the Clips. Caron Butler is capable of being a big time scorer (his average has gone up every year since 04, reaching 20.8 last season) Hes rebounds the ball well, averaging 6-7 a game consistently, and he gets around 2 steals a game (as well as 4 assists).
Washington would be getting a shot blocking big guy (also an expiring contract) and if AL is in there they are getting a big time athlete and finisher to replace Butler. The Wizards will be getting Gilbert Arenas back, and they definitely want to compete in the eastern conference…Gilbert, Jameson, Camby, and Al Thornton is a pretty good lineup in the east. Seems like a deal that benefits both sides.
Btw… I am definitely not an AT hater…I love watching that kid play, but I think Butler gives us a better chance to win right now.
