what to do with zbo
quite honestly, he is probably my most hated nba player. i hate him even more than vujacic and kobe, combined.
that being said. do you think there is any possible way the clippers could get rid of him? i know sterling is a cheap bastard but a man's gotta have morals
i'm just deeply afraid randolph would corrupt our #1 pick SOME HOW
trade him a 2nd round pick? d league player?
out right just cut him?
also seeing as how we got the #1 pick, it seems like we're stuck with dunleavy for at least the next two years. dunleavy also happens to be my most hated coach too.. go figure...

zach has trade value...
not necessarily this year, but next year when his $17 mil is coming off the books without a doubt. hold onto him for a year and let blake ease into the NBA off the bench. blake could conceivably light a fire under ZBOs ass and bring the best out of him. if not, some team will inevitably be looking to clear cap space next year and be willing to part with some intriguing pieces….
my prediction is
that at some point in the season, during practice, randolph duffs griffin in his eyeball with a big looping left. griffin needs a minor but immediate surgery. and then you need z-bo more than ever. so you might as well not trade him. cus you see, you’re really really gonna need him.
“i’m just deeply afraid randolph would corrupt our #1 pick SOME HOW”
“out right just cut him?”
So unbelievably stupid.
Is it?
Isn’t this essentially what Portland did? They got rid of Randolph in order to get him away from Brandon Roy. As for cutting him outright, they didn’t do that – but they did buy out Steve Francis, who was the player they traded him for. And Francis had two years left on his deal, as Randolph does now.
It’s not what I would do. The fact that his deal is only for two more seasons, and that he is a very effective player still (unlike Francis) makes the situation on the court and in the ledger OK. He’s not a top 20 NBA player, although he’s got a top 20 salary, but if you accept that for what it is, it’s no big deal.
But we don’t know what his impact in the locker room is, because we’re not there. We do know that Portland got rid of him for essentially nothing during the season after his best statistical performance of his career. So you may think it’s stupid… but Kevin Pritchard might disagree.
Be nice. Make your points. Don’t call people names.

Mount up!
Steve has a point, let’s discuss things in a civil manner on this forum. This community has been great and supportive, the last thing we want is an influx of negativity or condescending remarks like the “other LA team” community.
I wouldn’t cut ZBo for nothing because I can see value add in him even though he is not worth his current contract. I really don’t see anyone else in free agency worth pursuing this year so that is moot.
Who’s tradeable on our roster is the question. The only two bigs that are tradeable are Chris Kaman and Camby. Chris has that poison pill. I really don’t want to see Camby go because he is likely the only good mentoring big for Blake.
I didn’t call anybody a name. Surely you can see that.
As for Portland. Yes, they did that. I still argue with my buddies that was stupid (notice the difference, I did not call them stupid.) But hey, having a 6’10 LaMarcus Alridge shoot jumpers all day instead of driving to the basket worked well against Houston. Sure they got no foul calls (except for Roy who realized that if you want to get calls you need to actually go to the rack) and struggled to score points. It’s not like a guy guaranteed to go put up serious points in the paint would have helped there when the guy lining up opposite was Luis Scola.
I hate this just fascination with all things Portland. They’ve got serious issues that need to be addressed, particularly at the 1 and the 5. LMA might be their answer (though I would argue no) but its not some guarantee that they will finish any better next year than they did this year.
Cue Sabonis4ever telling me that’s stupid (though not calling me stupid.)

I suspect that Portland is ok with having ditched Zbo
And you’re not stupid, mwhite, you just have an ongoing man-crush
"Ecstatic!" better describes how we Blazer fans feel
about Zach not being a Blazer.
Zach said once he “wants to be great.” Who knew he was talking about the Strip Club Customer Hall of Fame, not the NBA Hall of Fame?
Zach does two things well: score in the low post, and rebound his own misses. We in Blazerland were astonished that you guys traded for him. You would think Dunleavy had enough of the Jail Blazers during his Portland stint.
There’s no point in hoping that Sterling will eat Zach’s contract. As for a trade, the earliest possibility will be by the 2011 trade deadline. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Sterling just lets his contract expire. That is a very large chunk of cash that would come off the team cap. But that means the team will have to deal with Zach’s antics for two more years. As we learned in his Portland tenure, you can’t stop Zach, you can only hope to contain him.
I know next to nothing about Blake Griffin, but I would do my best to keep him as far from Zach as possible. I don’t hate Zach, but he is what he is.
Congratulations on winning the lottery. You guys have an interesting collection of players. I hope you can find a way to keep them healthy and fit them together next season.

"Ongoing man-crush"
LOL.
I prefer to think of it as the founding member of the Zach Randolph Marching and Chowder Society.
Who’s with me?

Not that stupid to be concerned that he's a cancer
I knew you’d respond to that post, though ;-)
Perception is reality they say....
and in the city of Portland, ZBO was perceived as a bad guy or a cancer, because he was a holdover from the jailblazers. That perception has, unfortunatel followed ZBO since he left. But heres a nice little article I found about ZBO written by a portland fan just this past season……

It's Crazy
to think they could easily have Roy & Durant on the same team.
Most of us are happier having Oden, thank you.
Durant is good and will be great, but Oden fits our needs a lot better and is more likely to win us a few rings.
What’s crazy — or what makes me really crazy — is that we took Martell Webster in 2005 when we could have had Chris Paul or Deron Williams.

What need is that exactly? The need to foul on as quickly as possible? I swear, Blazer fans defend Greg Oden like a proud mother.

Greg is our real MVP. He attracts foul calls
that would otherwise go to Brandon Roy or LaMarcus Aldridge.

I say keep Zach
He is a good player in his own way. Maximize that. Give him the ball down low and let him work.
Can’t have too many bigs. Ask Houston.
