Let's Get Griffin + Rubio!
There is a rumor that Ricky Rubio doesn't want to go to Memphis and that Memphis is considering trading the #2 pick. The Clippers should do all that is in their power to make a trade for that #2. It would be unprecedented to have the top two picks. I would be willing to trade everybody else to have this roster:
PG: Rubio
SG: Gordon
SF: Thornton
PF: Griffin
C: Anybody
Throw in a future 1st round pick and even Minnesota's 1st round pick if necessary. The team above would be spectacular.

Then what
is the point of signing Baron Davis? Give him chance.

If Baron is playing well
he can start and Rubio could come off the bench. Just like the situation with Randolph and Griffin.

This idea is so bad on so many levels. Rubio would never start over Baron and does this help get rid of our big man problem?

Nah
I’d rather trade Randolph. Randolph for Jefferson? works out for both teams.

Interesting concept
Memphis is a good destination for Randolph, and they have Conley. The Clips can take Darko and Jaric-Lima off their hands. But how do the Clips get them to give up the pick that would become Rubio?
Darko/Jaric-Lima/1st round pick (Rubio) is pretty rich for a problematic player like Randolph, even though he would be a good PF complement to Gasol.
Maybe sweetening the pot with DeAndre Jordan would do it.

THAT WOULD BE SWEEEEEEEEEEEET

I’d rather keep Jordan and let them have Rubio.

Don't you remember the Laker game?
When he was the best Clipper on the floor? Plays better than Bynum did his rookie year, and DeAndre is much more athletic. Plus, in his fourth start he had the twenty rebound game. I can honestly see him as a star center.

I admit it....
I have a slight man crush on DJ as well.

I love DJ and he’s just so raw right now

It’s just I dont know if we have anyone that can help him out to refine his talents. He has the potential to be good. It probably will take him a bit longer though

I buy the idea
It´s rebuilding in the best way. If Griffin And Rubio perform as expected, in 3 years we are championship caliber. How you make it happen is the question.

"championship caliber"
Lol, the mayans predicted it.2012 the world will end and the clippers win a championship
by highriser on May 22, 2009 1:29 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
haha
Well, technically, the mayans really didn’t predict anything. Its just that their calendar would just run out.

I hate forien players who say they want to play only on certain teams like yi. if that is ther attitude i dont think they should come. their acking as if the nba needs them and they have us by the balls. Pau gasol player for mem didnt have a problem same with his brother. I hope that just cause this guy does this doesnt meen will get him i dont want him at all now that is a bad attitute that we dont need from a unproven player.

Guys to trade for Rubio
Randolph, Kaman, & Mike Taylor
by ghost_ride on May 22, 2009 8:23 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
All three?
That’s too rich.
I don’t think Memphis wants Kaman, because they have Gasol. They’d rather have the sure thing in Randolph (sure thing as far as PF points and rebounds goes; overall quality is another story). Throw in Mike Taylor too, sure. They sent away Lowry and Crittenden, right?
But I might put DeAndre on the table if that’s what it takes to get Rubio.
The Baron-Rubio timetable would be fine. Rubio is very young, and Baron can earn his money for the next couple of years.
But Rubio-Gordon-Thornton-Griffin would be sick. With BDavis-Camby-Kaman? Lots of people would pay to see that.

Haha
Rubio too _.
Maybe we shouldn’t push our luck too much :p.
Leave some for the season!

Rubio did say he wanted to play in LA but getting him will be tough
by shoothoop on May 22, 2009 9:50 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
DJ should have got more playing time during the season..

One more thing
If we are able to get Rubio, ClipperSteve will have to launch the spanish version of ClipsNation. How about being a big celebrity in Spain, señor Esteban Perrin?
