Who the hell is that White boy?

Easily one of the most memoriable things in this season involves a player everybody seems to not mention anymore.  I'm sure he's fallen into the hearts of most Clippers fan because of his accurate stroke and his sexy swagger.  Yes i said it, sexy!  (My girlfriends favorite player apparently.)

I did a post of wanting Fred Jones back and apparently only a selected few agreed with me, so I think more people will agree that this player is a bit underrated and needs to be back with the Clippers.

This isn't Gordon, BDavis, Thornton, Randolph, Kaman, Griffin. (the list goes on.)  This is the "who-the-hell-is-that white-boy-Novak?"  Remember Clippers Nation when everybody was making fun of us because we acquired a noname like Steve Novak, believeing HE is the superstar to take us to the playoffs? (Sarcasm from the media.)  Now it seems like everybody has a better feel of who Sure Shot Novak is.  No longer is Kapono( who apparently was apparently sent to phili for Joe Smith) at the top of the list.  I like Kapono, because I'm a UCLA fan, but does anybody else remember when Novak had a better game than Kapono?  Heh, i remember when Mike Smith predicted that Novak would make the next three's and Lawler said "no way."  Apparently, Mike was right( who by the way, I think is one of the best announcers also!)

Hell, I was at that Washington game when Novak was 7-11 and was practically one of the reasons the Clippers came back( argue if you will that Baron had 20 assist, but stats don't matter.  Baron's passes weren't as sharp and amazing as the 20 assist seems.)

I guess the thing is, is Clipper Nation going to sacrafice more money for Novak?  Who know's how much Novak is asking for?  But hey, if someone asked if I would take Jason Kapono or Steven Novak, I'd easily go for Novak.  Novak came from the no name white boy and since then has taken over the hearts of most, if not all, Clippers fan.  I already remember people asking for a Novak jersey at the LA store in Staples Center.

But there seems to be a catch.  How are we going to play him?  If Dunleavy is really going to run the fast pace offense, where the hell is Novak going to fit?  Are we going to jack up 3's on fast break opportunity?  Are we going to try and playa Orlando type offense?  I see Orlando type offense as a very capable thing except Randolph is not Dwight and Thornton doesn't seem to shoot three's well anymore( he actually did decent back in his freshmen year.)

So the problem is we match the offer for Novak?  I want to say yes, but I think for Novak's best interest, he should sign with another team.  If everybody is so caught up in acquiring a small forward, Novak is yet again going to be a third string, and there isn't a big reason to keep him unless we can use him as a shooting guard.  (Let's admit that Novak at powerforward wasn't exactly the smartest move by Dunleavy.)

But hey, I'll say it once and I'll say it again!  Let Thornton start and keep Novak!

Btw, for a closing statement, I want to say Sure Shot Novak has made a name for himself.  He got so much hype around him that people rather have him on their roster instead of Jason Kapono. (I actually didn't play Fantasy Basketball, but I remember seeing answers in Yahoo Answers about adding Novak while he's hot.)  Oh why not add a second poll, Jason Kapono or Steve Novak?

I dont think team are going to be going after Novak, not this year. He’s defenitely not going to get Kapono money

The economy might ensure Novak stays

because with many teams in debt no one is going to want to shell out money for a still relatively unknown sharp shooter except the team that witnessed how good he is.

In Gordon we trust

I Somewhat believe it

but i think NOvak is making a name for himself. I remember when they use to play Novak so loosely, but eventually they started to play on him like glue. I do hope Novak comes back though. It’d be nice to have someone to throw to if we’re ever down three points.

Mike Smith on Eric Gordon: "The Clippers may have found their go to scorer."
On a second note, I want Novak back!

i really hope we dont give novak kapono money.

I mean novak is nice and all but he’s a one trick pony (just like kapono). I live in warrior country and watching them pick up random guys who can shoot 40% from the 3 line who are more athletic than novak, i would hope we dont overpay for him (anthony morro and azuibuike undrafted guys…. are good examples)

That's what I came in here to say

What a dumb statement. I’m tempted to delete it, but I’ll give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he meant nothing by it.

If a guy can play, he can play.

A 3-point threat spreads the floor and is worth no more than 1.4 in this economy. Since he is restricted we can match any offer, unless we release him for cap space.

yeah 2 million seems about right..

i’d even venture up to 2.5 mililon (ricky davis money if you think about it)….

I mean novak will probably single handedly win you 3-4 games a year. but he’s not starting and you can only use him against teams with slow small forwards or small power forwards so it really limits him.

If only we could somehow combine Novak and Griffin… then we’d have the PF of the forever.

Stuck in limbo.
