Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Davis, coming off a year with a terrible case of knee tendinitis, exercised his player option for $2.4 million.

It was a rough year for Davis who played in just 36 games, averaging 6.4 points a game on 33.9% shooting from the field.

The Clippers are curious to see of Davis can rebound with a healthy knee, although it wouldn't be a surprise if Ricky was included in a deal sending out one of LA's "extra" big men (Chris Kaman, Zach Randolph and/or Marcus Camby).

All knew this was happening.

He already has a bad rep in the NBA and after that horrendous season it would be fullish to opt out. At least he possibly acts as a trade piece if we need to add a filler.

I’d trade him to Cleveland with Kaman for Ben Wallace and their first round pick (#30 overall).

Who cares about value when Wallace presents us with an expiring contract as well as the Clippers getting the 30th pick in the draft.

Trading Kaman is different than trading Randolph

Kaman is actully viewed by many teams around the league as a dominant center (which he is when healthy) and should bring more than what you propose. If it were Randolph that trade would make more sense as he brings nothing other than 20/10 (which for some is all they may need).

We’ve heard mentioning of Hinrich, G-Wallace, and Prince in trade scenarios with Kaman. If we’re going to trade for cap relief (which I personally don’t agree on…..2010 FA….the Clippers……really?) and bring in another youngster who needs time to grow might as well try to grab one of the better guards or forwards in the mid first round.

Kaman shouldn’t be traded away for scrap. Besides, currently, we need him more than Randolph.

I don't think Cleveland wants Kaman

And I KNOW they don’t want Ricky Davis. Randolph for Wallace or Szerbiack may work.

I am not a fan of trading for Ben Wallace, but maybe he provides us with some balance on the offensive end as he will not require any shots (leaving more for Randolph)?

I would prefer to to keep Kaman and trade Randolph, but does that then contradict my statement above?

Sign Me Up

I don’t require any shots on the offensive end at all. If it helps, I’ll just stay on the other team’s side of the court all the time. But any NBA team that wants to win shouldn’t play me or Ben Wallace. We’re both too old.

I’d rather trade Kaman than Randolph simply because Kaman’s contract runs an extra year longer and looks more attractive to teams.
