Dang you stuck
I keep changing the titles so its more clear this isn’t a dupe.
Sorry man,
You posted while I was sifting through code for the link to the simmons segment. I thought u beat me to it too.
LOL
and yet Simmons keeps renewing his tickets. What a serious tool. Talk about hypocrisy. Maybe he is jealous because he thinks he can do a better job than MDsr…and that MDsr is making more $$ than him. Lame.
Do or do not. There is no try.
Not upset...
I am just not a fan of Simmons…and I find it just a little hypocritical to bash the Clippers week in and week out all the while continuing to hold season tickets (even when saying he wasn’t renewing), and sometimes even claiming to be a Clipper fan, but only when it benefits him. Thats all. I don’t mind the MDsr bashing at all. I just feel the Clipper bashing it gets tired after awhile (not the MDsr bashing mind you)…I mean, Leno has been doing Clipper jokes for what seems like 20 years now….it’s old and has been done.
Do or do not. There is no try.
has he bashed the clipper players though?
I’ve heard front office bashing, dunleavy bashing, and sterling bashing…I mean he said some of the team jogged up and down the floor last season but as a result of dunleavy’s coaching. I think he is a clipper fan and wants them to succeed, though the odds are against them with Dunleavy as coach. Totally legit question “Clip Show”, why don’t you like Simmons? I think he’s knowledgeable and very funny(albite a little long winded).
It is a good question....
First, he is NOT a Clippers fan….well, he can’t be in true faith. His one and only team is the Celtics. He has even gone so far as to write a story about “fandom” detailing who you can be a fan of and under what circumstances, and for the most part I agree with what he wrote in that article (see link here FANDOM. ) Anyway, in that piece (which I liked and agreed with for the most part), he essentially says once you pick a team you are stuck with them FOR LIFE per #19 (unless extenuating circumstances dictate otherwise), and I agree with that stance…and he has made it abundantly clear that the Celtics are his team, and rightfully so. My biggest beef is that on occasion, he passes himself off as a Clippers fan, which I find offensive. Plus, he sits there and bashes the organization and management, which is totally fine by me, but then continues to re-up his season tickets, even after claiming he is done for good. Just a little hypocritical. That’s all. I just don’t like the guy. He is a funny writer, and comedy is his thing, but some stuff I don’t find funny or entertaining. Personal opinion I suppose. That’s all.
And as far as the player bashing, I am sure that on more than one occasion he has “bashed” on ZBo and Kaman. But that is besides the point. That doesn’t really bother me.
I hope I answered your question. It’s really a matter of credibility with me, and when it comes to the Clippers, he has very little.

Totally answered my question Clip Show.
I feel a certain kinship with simmons. I am originally from PHX and so am a suns fan but as my handle would indicate, because of my chosen profession I am STUCK IN LA. Since the lakers are my team’s arch-rivals I could never justify to myself spending money to go see a NBA game if it was theirs. So I defaulted to the clippers last year for season tickets. So while I still root root root for my home team, I am still a fan these damned clippers now too and after that last article Simmons wrote, I feel so low on the front office and how seemed to ruin season for this team. I think Simmons said that not one of the dozens of first round picks that the clips got over their 33 years have stayed with the team. Insane. long story short, your point is valid and noted Clip Show.
One final note on Simmons
If the guy would never have published that FAndom article, I probably wouldn’t have a any super distaste for him, other than he is a REd Sox, Celtics and Patriots fan…and my fave teams happen to have been owned by them in the past decade or so….(see Angels, Clippers and Chargers). :(
Glad to have you on board with the Clips Nation too. :D

A Few Thoughts on Simmons
I was out of town and came back today at noon, with plenty of time leading up to the draft, and I had a chance to read Simmons’ article on the Clippers, the Buffalo Braves/Native American curse, all of the bad times, run for the hills Blake, etc.
And I think I figured out his approach.
Maybe it’s something we already knew. But the Clippers are very important to Bill Simmons. Let me say it again: VERY important.
He is using them, quite obviously, to be able to pose as a knowledgable NBA writer and live in LA, all while hating the Lakers as his arch-nemesis, and being a huge Boston Celtics fan. It’s a pretty smart strategy. And he has found his stalking horse in MDSr., not to mention all of the other amusing characters in Clipperdom. I give him some credit for being a student of the league (not so hard when you’re a latter day Celtic fan, not old enough to remember Bob Cousy or Bill Russell or any of the original greats) and writing a nice story on the Original EB’s phenomenal record as a player.
The Simmons angle is all about Los Angeles. It’s a media center. His act wouldn’t play as large any place else—he can’t go to New York. There aren’t a lot of place he would fit. If he goes to a nice town like Austin he becomes like Chad Ford or Mark Stein and maybe he makes it on his books, maybe not. But as long as he stays in LA as part of the Kimmel spin off gang, he’s got his hand in the game. And so he’s been smart, riding the Clippers for a while now, a vituperative, annoying and not especially helpful and supportive voice. His act on MDSr is very tired, and not sophisticated or subtle in any way. MDSr. bought himself some new life with the Griffin pick (although Dunleavy certainly didn’t look very lifeless in his interview tonight—he looked like old school Irish thug, a character that Simmons should be quite familiar with from Boston), and that’s just the way things are. Doc Rivers bought himself some new life with Garnett and Ray Allen.
Simmons is funny and smart and sometimes I like him. But from the Clipper perspective he’s a real pain, as bad and cancerous as Nikki Finke is on the Hollywood beat—there’s a blogger reference that Simmons might be able to appreciate. He should do himself a favor and try to be a little more positive and thoughtful. Don’t be scared, BS. It’s just the Clippers. They’re not going to hurt you. You can be smart and thoughtful about them, and try to say things that make sense. All of your fear and loathing just makes you seem like a scared Laker hater, a typical Masshole. But that’s probably the point, and you probably come by your limitations honestly. Still, if you want to make it in LA, and that’s the point, let yourself go a bit. Give the Clips a little credit, a break. Maybe you can be the one who starts writing about DeAndre Jordan, or who pushes the ESPN “experts” to realize that Eric Gordon is a superior player. Less “it’s the Clippers, Blake” comedy, more thinking and analysis.

I think
You read too much into Simmons. The Clippers are an easy target, he likes basketball, he wants to write, and he’s incredulous that a team with such poor management continues to exist, and really, to thrive to some degree, in LA. Trust he, there are many Clipper fans who are incredulous at this.
The fact that Simmons isn’t really a fan means that his opinion isn’t quite as biased as many of ours. He obviously got to you – you’ve stooped to calling him names.
I’m so on fire with Dunleavy jokes that Dunleavy just brought in an ice-cold Daniel Ewing off the bench to slow me down.
i gotta say that’s a pretty funny one…
Roger Sterling: I bet there were people in the Bible walking around, complaining about "kids today."
Don Draper: Kids today, they have no one to look up to. Cuz they're looking up to us.
That's a good one
Only MDSr lovers are upset by them
