Rubio Likely To Stay In Europe?

The most important thing that happened at the NBA Draft on Thursday night had nothing to do with Blake Griffin, Hasheem Thabeet or even Ricky Rubio.

The most significant development was the following quote, uttered by Rubio's father, Esteban: "Con esta elección, es posible que Ricky juegue un año o dos más en Europa."

Translation: Minneapolis, we have a problem.

Even someone like me, who can only say beer and bathroom en Español, understands that that means. Spain never looked so good to Rubio after he was selected with the fifth pick Thursday night by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

not sure it is about playing for a good team as much as it is

getting enough money to pay for the buy out. I don’t think he will go back to Europe, I think this is just a scare tactic to try and get him traded with a cash incentive so he can actually make some money instead of using it all to pay off the buy out.

In Gordon we trust

espn radio

mentioned his buyout would go up after june 30th…like 8mil or something, so he either gets out now or we’re not seeing him for another year…

Roger Sterling: I bet there were people in the Bible walking around, complaining about "kids today."
Don Draper: Kids today, they have no one to look up to. Cuz they're looking up to us.

Article

I think copy and pasting whole articles is frowned upon around here. This probably should have been a fan shot.

True dat

I edited it to be an excerpt and a link… but yes, this should have been a FanShot. (I left it here since it had a couple of comments already.)

What about articles that are INsider?

Im pretty sure every one here doesn’t have a ESPN mag subscription.

I have to think drafting 2 PGS

does not help out w/ Rubio’s confidence. Knowing he’s playing in the NBA for free. If he’s serious, he could go back to Spain if he doesn’t think it makes financial sense for him to stay and play for the wolves.

Overall

I think Wolves made a decent job replacing Randy Foye; Johnny Flynn should be an adequate alternative, and could possibly be better.
