The Clippers have needs and extra parts. Can we count on Baron Davis to play like he did at the end of last season and for Golden State ? If we trade a big man , what do we trade him for ? Which big do we keep and whichone or ones do we trade ? Can Dunleavy continue to function as GM and coach ? Lots of questions ? Can the Clippers answer all these questions and improve the team significantly from last year ? Peter Wilensky, Orange County, CA.

i think the only trade we should make with our big men is for a solid 3 like Deng, Solmons or Prince or even a combo back up guard like Hinrich. If no such deals are available, then keep the bigs because its very workable not to mention if someone gets injured. I hope we dont dump one of them for nobody in a salary relief trade. Yeah i think it all depends on baron davis honestly. If BD shows up the rest will follow.

your bromance with Battier might overlook us regular fans.

Battier: I want more Dukeeee’s on the team, or I’m leaving.

We’d probably see an overfill of JJReddick, Josh McRoberts, and Kyle Singler.

Trade for a Ball Handler

Can the Clippers depend on Baron Davis ? Should they pick up a quality backup ? Someone who is a good passer and can protect the ball. It would be great if they can acquire Farmar from the Lakers. Farmar was a tremendous defensive player for UCLA and can be one as a pro. If the Clippers decide to go up tempo, he would fit in nicely. Zach Randolf was the best big man on the Clippers, but can he fit in with a running team ? He is their best low post player by far, so he would be invaluable in a half court set. Peter Wilensky, Orange County, CA.

by PWilensky on Jun 27, 2009 11:28 PM PDT reply actions

oh god no i don’t want anyone from the lakers especially not ears.

by andrewexd on Jun 28, 2009 2:02 AM PDT up reply actions

No

IT does seem that Farmar is the better player over Baron but NO. Baron has it in him but he has to play like he is already a legend. Take Thorton and Blake under his wings and take off. Those 3 can win a Championship with help from two others that can shoot free throws and a bench. Zach, Kaman and Camby are our big men motivated by the high flying acts of the new twoism A and B. Al and Blake

I dont think anyone thinks Farmar is better than Baron. Except delusional Laker fans

Crap ( i guess i might've hit something)

*Thats a bit hard. Baron was preforming… well.. he didn’t really. I might have even taken Farmar over Baron from the preformance he had last season. Fact is, if Baron is going to continue to preform at an altitude that he is currently preforming at right now, I’d even take Brevin Knight back. Atleast Brevin was fast and can pass the ball.
But I’m not saying that Baron is worse than Farmar, but atleast Farmar has passion for the game, which Baron seemed to lack last season. Thing is, we need moltivated players. Baron better bring that to the table or I’ve lost all hope for him. (I’m still optimistic about Bdizzle; however.)

farmar’s stock was highest, the minute he declared for the draft. Thats about it.

he’s not a guy you’d consider all star caliber.

Baron will turn it around, I think once he accepts he’s here for 4 more years, and maybe if everyone else isn’t injured he’ll turn around. I’m still hopeful

by hans007 on Jun 29, 2009 1:23 AM PDT up reply actions

I would actually say Farmar's stock was at the lowest

when he declared for the draft. Easily if he remained a little later, he could have been taken somewhere in the first round. Afterall, Farmar underachieved at UCLA, I always thought that he could have done better had he stayed one or two more years.

And yes, Farmar is probably not all star caliber. But like I said, Farmar hussles. He plays hard and he dives for balls. You have got to love the guy for actually playing hard (sadly it’s for the Lakers though.)

The Great Salary Dump of 2009!

I’m sure Clippers fans will hate this but: Chris Kaman, Al Thornton, and Z-Bo for Josh Howard, Erick Dampier, and Jerry Stackhouse.

I know Thornton and Howard’s numbers are similar but Howard is night and day better than Thornton. He’d be the starting SF for the Clippers and is IMO the best player in this deal.

Better yet, he has a team option on 2010 so the Clippers can dump him if they don’t like him. Erick Dampier’s final year isn’t guaranteed unless he meets incentives that he’s only managed to reach once in his career. Stackhouse is another expiring deal and a solid backup for this season.

The Clippers dump 28 million from their payroll to make a run at someone in 2010 or have the ability to offer instant cap relief (which could net them a lopsided deal like the ones that have happened recently).

horrible trade

we don’t need to dump salary. Keep Al trade Kaman for a defensive minded SF that allows for Al to come off the bench.

In Gordon we trust

But Houston would never make that trade.

I’m not sure who you can expect to get for Kaman. I think the offers will be along the lines of Mike Miller, who’s worthless. Josh Howard for Kaman would be a steal for the Clippers so they’d probably have to add something to the mix.

Honestly, I think Dallas turns down my trade offer before the Clippers do.

I meant, Dallas - not Houston

I agree with tomkanti. I still think that Kaman and Thornton for Howard makes some sense though. The Clips dump Kaman’s deal and get their starting SF.

Trade Clippers: Outgoing:Kaman, Thorton. Incoming: Howard

The Mavs wont give up all of that for 2 bigs

especially the ones who tie up salary, they just got Jason Kidd off the bboks they don’t need Randolph to clog up their salary.

by tomkanti on Jun 28, 2009 5:58 PM PDT up reply actions

NO

I do not think that we should trade either Kaman or Thornton. Thats just silly. For what to start over or so Howard can bitch and complain for 82 games I think not. Keep Kaman, keep thornton, drop either Camby or trade him for Battier I like him
