Its time, ClipperNation.

Star-divide

The pieces are coming together.  It's almost here.  One trade away.  So close.

With Yao likely shutting it down for at lest this season, the Rockets need a center for one season.  Enter Macus Camby.  In and out, 1 season fill-in for Yao.  Who might the Clippers recieve in return?  One player every team in the NBA could use, #31, Shane Battier.

Now, for this to work, LA might need to throw something else in.  DeAndre?(Sorry Zhiv)  A future pick?  Mike Taylor, Ricky Davis, or Brian Skinner?  We'll see.

If MDsr and DTS do not ruin this, like most Clipper Trade options, then our 2009-2010 Roster is like this:

PG- Starter: Baron Davis Backups: Mike Taylor; Mardy Collins

SG- Starter: Eric Gordon Backups: Fred Jones; Ricky Davis

SF- Starter: Shane Battier Backups: Al Thornton

PF- Starter: Blake Griffin Backups: Zach Randolph

C- Starter: Chris Kaman Backups: DeAndre Jordan, Brian Skinner

This is assuming we trade Camby and a pick for Battier.

Let's compare (biased, of course) the 2009 Champion Lakers to the 2010 Champion Clippers(told you it would be biased):

PG: Baron Davis          Derek Fisher    The Clippers hold an obvious advantage here if Baron actually plays hard.

SG: Shane Battier        Kobe Bryant      With Shane on the floor, Kobe is at least slowed.  Advantage: Slight to LAL

SF:  Eric Gordon          Trevor Ariza      Around the same, Ariza's D cancels out Gordon's O.  Even

PF: Blake Griffin           Pau Gasol          Lakers.  Gasol is a great player, Griffin is a rookie.  Advantage LAL

C: Chris Kaman            Andrew Bynum      Kaman 2.0  = LAC advantage.   Kaman 1.0 = Equal

6th:  Al Thornton, Zach Randolph      Lamar Odom   With 2 good bench players, advantage to LAC.

We have talent.  We have promise.  We do NOT have heart.  Heart is what it takes.  Energy. Hustle.  An inspired LAC team next year is the team to beat.

LJ Hann

did you curse the Rockets so Battier can be traded to the Clips, because the Clips have a lot of centers?

by tomkanti on Jun 30, 2009 7:36 AM PDT up reply actions

Actuall, It's coincidence

sorry to dissapoint though.

If someone else gets Battier when we could of...

I would walk down to Playa Vista, wait until MDsr arrives for a practice in which he will coach our few productive players badly, and when ha arrives, I will blow out his little retarded Coach/GM eardrums.

i think we’d need a new coach. though. we’d also have marcus camby on our bench.

I think we’d have a good shot, if we got a coach we coudl be decent. hell we just need a coach the players like. hell lets get maurice cheeks. mark jackson . patrick ewing, anyone.

by hans007 on Jun 29, 2009 10:06 PM PDT reply actions

oh my bad forgot we trade marcus camby for battier. hell if anything, if DTS would just say give ron artest a 4 year deal at the MLE (which is how w’ed get around the cap since no one is signing ron ron for 4 years, so basically just pretend this is a 2 yaer deal, that pays out for 4 years…)

by hans007 on Jun 29, 2009 10:08 PM PDT up reply actions

No because Ron Artest needs the ball

on offense. Thats why Thornton is being demoted to bench duty. We have to many need-the-ball guys. Get Battier. He doesn’t need the ball.

No Camby

We would have traded him for Battier.

Your assuming that they bring back both

Odom and Ariza imo they will lose one or both of them. I don’t see Odom taking a pay cut and I don’t see Ariza sticking around when he can get a lot more money elsewhere. But other then that you might be putting a little too much pressure on Battier, I mean he is a very good player but imo Griffin would have to have a monster season and Baron would have to play like he did in the Warriors playoff push, and Kaman would have to become to 2.5 in order for us to even sniff the second round of the playoffs imo.

Im talking the LAL champion team, not this coming year's team.

I think Baron can play that well, averaging say 18/9. Blake would need to average like 15/8. Kaman 15/12. Gordon 20/5. Battier like 8/Guarding best player. Off bench: Z-Bo 15/8 thornton 10/6.

Actually think that "9" is too much for Baron

Baron’s never really a pass first point guard, he averaged 8.9 with GSW I think Baron’s more realistic numbers would be 18/7, seeing as how Baron is getting older.

i thikn he could average 9 on the clips , maybe even 10 if dunleavy actually upped the tempo or we got a new coach.

baron has never played on a team with actual real post players. its up to him to work with the system though.

even last years horrible season he average more than the previous year’s GSW team, and barely less than their playoff team.

And the clippers play at a much slower pace than those warrior teams did so he had less oppurtunities to assist.

I am pretty discouraged with dunleavy ever running up tempo though.

He coached the 1990 lakers, and the 1999/2000 blazers, and even those teams were very slow in pace. ANd the 1990 lakers had magic johnson on it.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/1999.html
http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/2000.html

They were however very very efficient offensively according to those links. Too bad baron davis doesnt believe in efficiency as of now. But who knows.

Mike dunleavy or baron have to change. If we have dunleavy we need a system point guard. Someone like a stockton type. I’m somewhat optimistic that once baron realizes he will get old and have to play different to extend his career he still could become one of those types especially after how slow he was last year. OR he could just never change. Sam was probably the perfect pg for a mike dunleavy team sadly but there arent that many the play that style anymore since its not “fun” as jrue holiday would say.

Notice how he NEEDS

an all star pass first pg, and that pass is to downlow for Randolph.
