Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Regarding the chatter

ESPN has some rundown on the chatter since midnight last night.  The big news in Clips Nation was Yao going down probably for at least the year.  Most of us were hoping that we could swing a trade for Battier using Kaman or Camby as bait, but now word is the Rockets are going hard after Marcin Gortat.  That would make a Clippers trade much more unlikely.  Artest seems likely to stay and I think that would be a good thing for our chances, but maybe full on rebuilding mode would be better?

Star-divide

The Pistons on the other hand are making Villanueva their top priority which could  bode well for their chances of trading Prince.  Kaman for Prince still sounds good to me.

And Ariza apparently won't be giving the Lakers a home town discount.  Maybe stay in LA but move over to Clipperland?

agreed.

Ariza played well towards the end of his contract year. What are the odds he comes back to earth?

Not to mention the fact that he’s playing in a system featuring Kobe, Pau, Bynum, and Odom. I dare anyone not to hit the open three, people would be saying the same about Shannon Brown if he were the starter…and they practically are, gak!

Good to hear Ariza will be taking care of himself...

The market will probably command too much for us to afford him, but that’s not a bad thing for us Laker haters.

Portland is going to be better

Just heard on the the radio Bucher saying he believes Portland is close to landing both Hedo and Andre Miller (via trade: Blake/Outlaw)

well I hope Miller

works out better for them then he did for us. Because if not they are just shooting themselves in the foot.

In Gordon we trust

Portland would get better even if they didnt make a single move.

They are the youngest playing rotation in the NBA. Young players get better. Oh and they have cap space.

They do??

I thought Darius Miles messed it up. (Sorry but if Darius Miles wants to play [and can play], teams shouldnt have tried to stop him.)

Anyways Portland did good, BRoy is a definite leader. But someday I would hope to say
Blake Griffin > Lamarcus Aldrige

(:

(can’t really compare anybody on the roster with Roy because Roy is an allstar of his own.)

No idea with Darius Miles situation

didn’t follow up on him at all. I was just saying that if Miles has some legs in him, and other teams thinks he can still play, he should be allowed to instead of Portlands management threatening teams to not sign Miles.

i dunno i like Ariza he has great hustle and defense and slowly got better as the season progressed. i think hes only going to get better from here but point is moot because we probably cant afford him anyways

by AtotheZ on Jul 1, 2009 10:24 AM PDT reply actions

not too mention..

he can knock down the three ball

by AtotheZ on Jul 1, 2009 10:25 AM PDT up reply actions

He can shoot the 3 but...

only if wide open. He doesn’t have good handles and has no mid range game which implies he’ll struggle on any team that runs plays for him. I think he’s terrific as your 4th or 5th guy on the court because he’ll get you extra possessions, play good d and knock down open shots but if you are counting on him scoring 15-18 ppg (which you’d expect from a 8 mil guy) then his shooting %s will fall by a considerable amount.

FA in 2010.

He's a good glue guy

….glue guys are only worth about $4 mil however, not $8.

He’s going to get overpaid. We do not want to be the ones overpaying.
