Sad to see ZBo go. We talked everyday about how we are going to change things around here and have our best year! Very sad to see him go!

Fact or Fiction

I believe I heard all this before when we signed him last year.

Baron….ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS !!

We'll see...

I’ll believe it when I see it, Baron

No to the Rockets

for BATTIER!!!!!!!!!!

Money wouldn’t work. It’d have to be for Battier, Brooks, and Cook. Baron is at $12.1 for this year while Battier is at $6.86. Brooks is at $1.12 while Cook is at $3.50. Adds up to, roughly, $11.5 million and the trade would be able to get done. The Clippers might have to shop a pick to Houston simply because Cook’s contract is an expiring contract while Battier’s expires after the 2010-11 season and Brooks is an up-and-comer at the point guard position in the National Basketball Association. Battier would start right at SF, Brooks right at PG, and Cook isn’t horrible enough to where he’d be fodder on the bench. He’d actually play a decent role. As long as Thornton hits the bench, a deal for SF needs to be made.

Forgot the trade exception.

In that case, Baron to the Rockets for Battier and Brooks would work quite well seeing how we’d need a point guard to replace Baron.

No. Baron deserves a second chance.

Well if Baron doesn't deserve a second chance;

why should the Clippers? I hate to say it, but the Clippers really havent done shit to redeem themselves either. Why don’t you give up on the Clippers also if the Clippers havent been preforming well? Go to the Lakers if you believe second chances aren’t deserved.

Did you seriously just tell me to go to the Lakers? Tad angry aren’t we?

by FlyByKnight on Jul 3, 2009 8:10 PM PDT up reply actions

Nah, just saying.

If it was a bit strong, I do apologize. I still believe in Baron, I guess.

Baron so far has shown me he’s all talk. I’ll believe it when I see it

by shoothoop on Jul 3, 2009 1:17 AM PDT reply actions

Why not? Brooks is serviceable and Battier is a top-quality defender in this league while being quite affordable and has a contract that expires after 2010-11.

by FlyByKnight on Jul 3, 2009 6:10 PM PDT up reply actions

What a stupid trade, seriously it was only 2 seasons ago he was an elite point guard. Baron can play and he deserves a chance to redeem himself, if it’s the same story at the end of this season well then we know hes lost it and the Clippers need to look to move him.

by Sam50 on Jul 3, 2009 7:29 PM PDT reply actions

if it’s the same story at the end of this season well then we know hes lost it and the Clippers need to look to move him.

So, let me get this straight just so that we’re on the same wavelength here.

You won’t trade Baron Davis right now simply because he deserves a chance to redeem himself but you will trade him if he shows he hasn’t redeemed himself during this upcoming season when the bounty won’t be as plentiful for him since his value will have taken another major hit?

Just makin’ sure I got this straight.

by FlyByKnight on Jul 3, 2009 7:34 PM PDT up reply actions

Ok, let me get this straight. Your so pessimistic that you have given up already after one season. The guy was obviously unprepared for last season which I agree is disrespectful to his new team.
I know positive thinking is unheard of to a lot of Clipper fans like yourself but I think he can make a massive impact next season.

by Sam50 on Jul 3, 2009 7:59 PM PDT up reply actions

Your so pessimistic that you have given up already after one season.

It’s not pessimism. It’s realism. We paid a guy a ton of money to come play in a slowed-down system when he thrives in a purely up-tempo fast-break offense. It wasn’t the smartest move. And he showed why it wasn’t smart. He is not a half-court player. Unless the Clippers somehow decide to run like they’re the Phoenix Suns of yesteryear then the signing of Baron Davis was one of the worst we could have made. Baron Davis had the worst year of his career last season from a shooting standpoint. And why was that? The half-court. In the open court, Baron Davis is probably a top three point guard. When things get slowed down, he’s average. And he showed it.

by FlyByKnight on Jul 3, 2009 8:13 PM PDT up reply actions

Fair point. I agree he just isn’t thriving with this offense. Trying not to bring up another topic or argument here but I think the direction the Clippers are heading with this massive overhaul of the roster, they need to get rid of the coach and get someone that is willing to change to a more up tempo offense. We have more than capable players to do so, I don’t see why they haven’t tried.

by Sam50 on Jul 3, 2009 8:18 PM PDT up reply actions

Great points

What makes us think that things are going to change this year?

by Jax on Jul 3, 2009 10:32 PM PDT up reply actions

That's the thing "FlyByKnight"

unless your still a Dunleavy supporter, all that blame couldn’t have been put on Baron. This was a mix of everybody, whether it was Dunleavy’s coach style (or Dunleavy period), or even not having the right lineup. The thing is, your right Baron is defintiley the open court player. Sounds like Dunleavy reaizes his mistake of playing a half court offense last year (since he stated he might have the Clippers run a bit more.) I put the blame on Baron, but the Blame should also be put on Dunleavy.

Anyways, Dunleavy’s style of play doesn’t seem to fit a point guard of Baron’s caliber. Sam Cassel, yes. But seems to me that its either Isolate everybody and hope it goes in, or give it to your “bigman” that is a proven scorer. (Randolph/ Brand/ and at one point Kaman.)
