Lakers Land Ron Artest

It's a done deal. My inside source in the Lakers front office just confirmed to me that its a done deal.  Read about it tomorrow.....

I think its a one year deal in the ball park of 7 million. If he performs well with no bad flare ups, they'll sign him to a long term deal. By than Adam Morrison comes off the books.

This makes sense because if Ariza is demanding a raise in the ballpark of 8-9 million he than he's competeing with Turkoglu, Odom and Artest.  He's good but not that good.

The next step on the Lakers agenda is to lock up Lamar Odom.

Sorry no Clipper news

Damn

I always sort of liked Artest, sorry to see him sucked into the void that is the wrong team in LA

Just saw Bucher on ESPN

and no deal w/ the Lakers. He’s still talking to cleveland right now. Lakers are waiting to get a deal done w/ Odom first before talkin to Artest

I don't think ESPN is going near this one yet

So far it looks like CBS Sports is basing this on an interview with Artest himself. He says he is signing with the Lakes. But we all know how reliable he is.

BTW, look to the right at the CBS banner. It has the Artest rumor.

Says details TBD

meaning if he asks too much this could all be for not. But I don’t think they will be able to get Odom.

You're, not your...

and that’s not how you pluralize that word.

It can't be more than MLE

Artest has to sign with the Lakers for the MLE. The Lakers are over the cap and this is the most they can offer.

This now means that Ariza is gone to a team for the MLE most likely unless Toronto or Portland comes calling.

Would anyone give up on 2010 to sign Ariza for the MLE?

Artest said

That it was up to Kobe or LeBron to recruit him.

All this reporting

CBS and Ramona reporting artest is ready to sign w/ lakers

and nothing on hoopsworld, espn or nba.com

Gortat commits verbally with Mavs.

Kaman to the Rockets for Battier could still happen.

But then we would actually be(gulp) shallow

down low. We would have probably starters Baron, EJ, Battier, Griffin, Camby. Al backs up 3/4, Q backs up 2/3, Mike Taylor backs up 1, DeAndre backs up 5, Novak plays spot minutes at 3/4.

ESPN is on it

Three years, $18M

Now they can focus on Odom, but this limits what they can give LO.

3 years?

I just don’t see it lasting that long. Kobe and Ron.
