Others [beside Kevin Durant] who caught the coaches' eyes included Rudy Gay, Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon and JaVale McGee, and several team insiders said they were surprised how spry Greg Oden looked.
Kevin Durant praised by coach Mike Krzyzewski at Team USA training camp - ESPN
It's worth noting that Eric Gordon is the only shooting guard at the Team USA Mini Camp who gets a mention here. Unfortunately, Chris Sheridan's article goes on to talk about the perceived needs for the Team USA selection, and shooting guard isn't one of them.

Some quotes I scrounged up from around the interwebs...
Durant hands down looked the best. Mayo and Harris follow him. After that, Oden, Gay, Randolph, and Gordon (whose jumper is unreal).
Eric Gordon looked awesome. He really made a statement with his shooting.
From a freelancer journalist covering the mini-camp.
Stuck in limbo.
hmmmm, probably the latter
But that’s just because of how you constructed the sentence.
But yeah, Durant is unreal! You’ve got to think Portland is privately wishing for a redo on that pick. Still, Oden has time to get it together…
John Schuhmann of NBA.com
barely mentions EJ at the end of his blog
Eric Gordon’s jumper is a little goofy looking (he shoots from in front of his chest), but he shot the ball pretty well.link
But - I thought Durant was only an "average" player - LOL
A couple of quotes:
“Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski singled out Durant and showered him with praise following the first day of a three-day mini-camp for a group of 20 young players trying to make the senior national team.
“Durant was the most dominant player on the floor in the team’s 12-minute scrimmage after the squad spent the bulk of Thursday’s practice working on drills. Friday’s practice was expected to be more focused on scrimmaging.
“Everyone who was watching from our group said you could tell that Durant was a little bit on a mission — and that’s good for them to see that, it picks everybody up,” Krzyzewski said. "He’s that versatility guy, and the other thing is he’s a shooter, and with the way we were playing defense for most of the Olympics, with his length, he could be a heck of a defender.
“So he’s really at the head of the list for me,” Krzyzewski said.
Let’s review. some unmamed poster here (cough, John R, cough), told us all that Durant was “average.” This was based solely on a combined WIN score for the first two years of his pro career and an mistaken belief that Durant was a PF.
We tried to tell this unnamed poster that no, Durant isn’t a PF, and no, you really do need to take into account the fact that his SF% (as an SF) was at 48% last year, but for some reason our words went unheeded.
Maybe he’ll listen to Coach K if not us.
From a fantasy bball perspective...
Durantula could very well be top 5 and better than Kobe. Too bad ESPN/TNT never show OKC on tv! I was a doubter his first year, but after last season…wow.
That's true
Whilst he’s going to get so much of the ball on that team, he’s definately a top 10 fantasy player now and a good case could be made for top 5.
I’m dying to get Blake in my leagues this year. Not sure where he’ll go. Around 5th/6th round I’d imagine.
Bingo! Oh me oh my!
If you do get him...
Keep in mind FT% – in other words, be prepared to tank that category! Might as well go after Dwight Howard while you’re at it. In my 9-cat roto expert league, our general rule of thumb has been not to draft rookies until the 6th round.
But yeah, if Blake can get 3+ assists per game along with consistent double-doubles? =)
And hopefully his turnovers won’t be too atrocious as they sorta were in summer league.
True
there are always downsides to the rookies. Can’t get on with Roto, prefer H2H so he’ll do me fine as long as I can get him at a decent position.
Gonna be some breakout years this year from some of last years rookies (looking at EJ and Westbrook in particular).
Anthony Randolph could go anywhere from round 4 to round 9 in H2H leagues. He’s a monster of stat building!
Bingo! Oh me oh my!
I don't know...
…if his SF% is only 48%, he may be less of a small forward than you think.
He's currently two-thirds man, one-third amazing. Which, let's face it, is still a pretty good ratio.
Boo... second day info is kinda blargh.
Eric Gordon didn’t get too many touches today.
Harris pushed the ball up the floor quickly and got it to Gordon, but Gordon’s three from the right wing missed at the buzzer.
Stuck in limbo.
Showcase was today.
No mention of Gordon in the write up at all on NBA.com
sigh
Stuck in limbo.
His stats from yesterday...
Eric Gordon, SG, L.A. Clippers
Showcase stats: 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 0-4 fg, 0-2 3pt, 2-2 ft
Gordon was the only player without a field goal on Saturday, and also committed three turnovers. He played pretty well on Thursday, but never got anything going after that.
Yikes. :<
Stuck in limbo.
