Hedo Blazes a Trail West
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4304805
What does this mean for Rudy Fernandez? Does this move take the Blazers to the next level? With plenty of movement so far in free agency, this summer has held nearly as much excitement as last.
With the Clippers still thin at the 3, is there a trade that could bring Rudy to L.A.? Would anyone even be interested in seeing this guy in a Clipper uni?

Maybe if we can send out Rich or RDavis
but Rudy will most likely be a backup SG or maybe SF. (Unless I’m getting my Spanish Guards mixed up.) Anyways, I don’t know much about the guy. I hear he’s a good shooter though?

He is undersized at the 3, but still got minutes there in Portland.
For what its worth, Nate McMillan is now denying any rift between Rudy and the Blazers over the Hedo signing.

I like rudy
but I think, the blazers will work it out w/ Rudy Fernandez, I don’t see how he’ll be happy here. Unless he’s getting playing time. He’s small for a 3

What's Rudy's real height anyways?
Every site has him listed at 6’6. From what i remeber, 6’6 is a decent SF height. Not the best, but not bad either.

i think 6’6 is basically the minimum for a small forward these days.
I mean outside of maybe desmond mason and all the guys who play “sf” for the warriors i cant think of anyone under 6’6 playing SF (mason and say azuibuike are 6’5).
That said, i think you need a pretty bulky build like maggs , paul pierce or kelenna to pull it off and fernandez is not built like that.

hmmm.
Imagine Gordon at 1, Rudy at 2 and Novak at 3….. people would be scarred… Cause EJ can drive, shoot or kick out to Rudy or Steve, with Blake and Camby cleaning up.

Not that Rudy is small in stature
but he was not strong enough against other SGs who posted him up. He is explosive to the rack, good first step

What? Novak isn't a three? Then Shaq is not a center...

dont that have travis outlaw at the 3 too? hell, id even take outlaw but i like rudy too. hes great energy off the bench and can fill in at the 2 or 3 i would love to have him in a clipps uniform. Unfortunately i dont see how we could possibly get either of them

they have martell webster too. maybe we could get him. he is not too bad, and i’m sure woudl come cheap. adds a different dimension anyway, and he’s supposedly coachable.

Martell Webster would be a good backup 2/3
He’s been injured, but when he’s 100% he’s probably better than Azibuike. And he’s young and only $3M per year. Webster for part of the trade exception would be great.

well, it was a verbal agreement to Blazers
but Hedo apparently is heading to Toronto because his wife enjoys that its more “Euro” over there.. and also they offered about 6 million more.
