Updates on Shaun Livingston

David Thorpe is livetweeting some info about Summer League and lists two notes about Livingston and it seems like he's primed for a comeback!

Star-divide

I am happy and sad at the same time. I'm happy for Shaun, but I'm sad for the Clippers. (Another one that got away?)

According to David Thorpe's Livetweeting from Summer League

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-42-40/David-Thorpe-Livetweeting-from-Summer-League.html

He lists two notes about Livingston.

-Livingston can be terrific on defense. He was for LA.

-Shaun Livingston is back. He's playing every other day since they are playing in Vegas too.

Not much but info but info nonetheless.

If he really is "back", I'm looking forward to seeing Livingston play in OKC. Seems like Presti is making all the right moves and building a great young team.

I always liked Shaun and always hoped he'd make a full recovery.

(I always hoped he'd stay with the Clippers and return as a savior of sorts and become an All-Star.)

Do you guys think he'll be able to return to his 06-07 season form?

Agreed

He never really played GREAT.. So it really isn’t asking that much for him to return to 06-07 form.. I would say that’s probably his ceiling though.

'Cause how you play, is how you'll be remembered. PLAY LOUD!

Not sure

how one could say that Shaun is “another one that got away”.
Dude blew out his knee like no one else had ever seen before and prior to that was always injured (as much if not more than Kaman now). Clippers made a good faith effort to help him rehab and bring him back to the team. I believe they even offered him a mutli-year deal after his injury, which he rejected (correct me if I am wrong). I feel bad for the kid, but at the same time, the Clippers did all the right things with him from the time he was injured until they released him. I don’t see this as a lost opportunity or another player that got away.

And then, there is always the whole part about him taking almost 2 1/2 years to get back on the court full time. Sure, he played a little last year, but the guy couldn’t even play in back to back games. Even if he does come back and plays defense like he did before injury, he will never be who we all thought or wanted him to be, an all star point guard with the vision of Magic while also being a lock-down defender…and truthfully he never reached that while he was with the Clippers anyway.

I wish all the luck to Shaun and hope he recovers fully and has a decent NBA career. Then again, the guy is a millionaire already, so he should have nothing to really worry about. I don’t think the Clippers are worrying about him too much either.

Do or do not. There is no try.

Not to correct you as I'm not sure myself

but I always thought that the years weren’t really multiyear extended for Shaun. I thought it was a one year, very low salary deal because Clippers were too scared of the injury.

I think most Clipper fans wish him the best, I know I do. I hope he makes it back, he

was just a kid when he blew out his knee. I’m thankful I wasn’t there to see it.

For sure, Shaun was awesome.

As for the other guy in Philidelphia, who came and stabbed us in the back, I hope he ruins his leg again and again and again. I hope he forever cursed himself. (=

he was getting pretty good just before the injury

he was hitting the 15-20 foot j.

which was his Achilles heal (bad reference).

at the end of the previous year, guys were backing up to the charge circle under the hoop.

when the injury year started he was wiating for them to back off stepping in and nailing it.

it was only a matter of time before he gonna start pop corning guys guarding the little j.

he had a sweet game brewing for sure.

wish him the best.

hehe, is starting to look like a man now!

heez all grow’ds up

A few months back

They re-aired a playoff game against the Suns on FSNPT, and Shaun did look pretty impressive. The potential was always there with him and regularly showed flashes, but he wasn’t ready yet. He still had holes in his game, and then he got hurt (I’ll never forget night). I have been one of those who has been rooting for him to make a full recovery and return to the NBA. I don’t like some of the things that he has said, but even in spite of that, I wish him the best.

Also, I think he in his pre-injured form would have been better than any pg we have had since then.

Difference:

Kidd is a better passer and possibly rebounder (even if shorter.) Kidd also is a decent scorer, even if 10 points don’t tell it.

Shaun has a long way to go before you can compare him to Jason Kidd.

he was throwing down and dunking last season towards the end of the year with the thunder.

i dont think he’ll ever be as quick as he used to be, but he’ll definitely be a decent player from now one if he can stop getting injured.

Sadly he is sort of the “glue guy” that we need now. like a really good version of mardy collins if he never got injured.

He has been playing at 1-3 this summer league, and clearly he can still pass.

Definitely Still Rooting for Shaun

And still hoping for some miracle where he ends up flourishing with the Clips.

You would have to be a comple a$$

not to be cheering for Shaun, he is the come back story but I just don’t see him ever returning to full form.

In Gordon we trust

Lets bring back the former Clippers

I still see the future being Gordon, Thornton and Griffin – but we are in need of some more reserves on the lower end of minimum wage. Why not bring back Miles and Livingston to complete the trip down memory lane. Our main problem last year was chemistry – and this may improve the chemistry. Individually I don’t see any of these guys making the team next year but collectively they can be a reasonable team – we have seen that in the past.

Think of it…

C = Camby / Kaman / Jordan
PF = Griffin / Skinner (he may resign with Zach gone)
SF = Thornton / Miles / Collins
SG = Gordon / Richardson / Jones
PG = Davis / Livingston / Taylor

I am sure there will be fans that hate this idea but it is sentimental to the fans and will fill some more seats. Plus it probably wont hurt 2010 cap space so it is little risk.

i actually like it

i wanna see miles jump around first.

let’s bring back josh powell too instead fo skinner. if the lakes sign lo, powell will prolly fall off the table.
