It’s ok…you can type w/o caps…

I'm having trouble

believing all your stories about meeting Clippers

by baronycamby on Aug 18, 2009 10:16 AM PDT reply actions

Yeah, I already had that notion when he posted about Al Thornton. Sorry, I just can’t take someone seriously if they typed in caps lock all the time.

by Final692 on Aug 18, 2009 10:19 AM PDT up reply actions

Why?

Didn’t you see how MDRs overreacted to DTS and others calling him out? Same with the EB thing. Who’s more defensive than him?

Frankly, I’m not surprised at all. I love it how a passionate fan actually got into the coach’s grill and jawed with him. Particularly season ticket holders. Coaches should have to face fans’ wrath. The guy’s making $5 million a year. The least he could do is interact with us a little bit.

Maybe this is true, maybe it isn’t, but I’m not surprised.

by Jax on Aug 18, 2009 10:52 AM PDT up reply actions

If you havent noticed Jax

the coach is interacting! Just in the way you love it Jax! Someday Dunleavy’s going to make it on TMZ with a blown gasket or beating up a STH. Kudo’s for all our hard work!

Even if your story is true, MDSr. talking with you for a half-hour seems pretty un-rude. In fact, it seems downright gracious. Talking to rabid fans like us can’t be easy, expecially when they’ve been calling for your head. I’d imagine anybody else would give you a few “uh-huhs” then be on their way.

by Gordon for President on Aug 18, 2009 10:20 AM PDT reply actions

Just like the American fashion police try to arrest MDSr for his suits

In all seriousness, you are attacking him because of what he’s saying, not how he’s saying it. Not everyone is as articulate as you are – they have the same right to be fans, to express themselves, and to do whatever else they want to.

by Jax on Aug 18, 2009 10:49 AM PDT up reply actions

"whatever else they want to?"

Uh…you don’t have a right to do “whatever else you want to”.

And as with all things, just because you can do something, it doesn’t mean you should.

by madglove on Aug 18, 2009 11:23 AM PDT up reply actions

Wasn't meant literally

MDSr could have shown a little more class IMO to a season ticketholder passionate fan.

by Jax on Aug 18, 2009 11:31 AM PDT up reply actions

No, the FAN should have shown a little more class, instead of trying to be an antagonistic armchair quarterback who thinks he knows better than the PROFESSIONAL coach of a PROFESSIONAL basketball team.

I swear, you think because a guy reads someone like Bill Simmons it emboldens him enough to publicly confront a coach because he thinks he can jam a bunch of players into the ESPN trade machine and pull an offensive scheme out of their ass they know better!

I’m sorry, ban me or not, but the guy is not a “season ticketholder and passionate fan”, he’s a jerk.

When the hell did we as people lose our sense of decorum? The coach went out of his way to talk to you and then he gets berated? Seriously?

Puh-leeze.

There's a larger issue here, my man

One of the reasons why fans are upset with the Clippers is that team management never levels with fans, never explains anything to them, never admits mistakes, and generally doesn’t have good bedside manners. If they took more time to work with the fans, and really show us they care about the product they put on the floor (19 wins? egads) then you’d have less pissed off people.

While most of us would not be as aggressive as that fan was, MDSr could probably easily have diffused the situation by taking the time to talk to the guy. But as we know that’s not his MO so the situation escalated.

If it really happened.

by Jax on Aug 18, 2009 9:26 PM PDT up reply actions

To that point, if the guy really is a season ticket holder

He spent alot of cash last year for 19 wins, bad coaching, a team that lost the coach, etc.

by Jax on Aug 18, 2009 9:27 PM PDT up reply actions

C'mon Jax

Do you really hate Dunleavy so much that you’re inclined to believe this story?

I thought Dunleavy should have been fired too. I definitely stand with you on that. But there’s no way this story is true.

At best it’s a “based on a true story.” The guy met Dun, said hi, Dun said hi and left. End of story.

Camby23

What do you do man? Can I come to your place of business and question how you do your job without any indication of my own expertise, experience or education in the area? In front of your coworkers and contemporaries? Would this not put you on the defensive?

Assuming the story is true, I guess I admire your follow through, but how else would one react in this situation? He made a minute for you which is more than any random person owes anyone else, which became 30 minutes of you questioning him and not hearing what he had to say. How did you expect this encounter to go?

I wouldn’t worry about having pristine writing skills, but it definitely wouldn’t hurt to follow some of the internet conventions. Don’t let them scare or dis you away from writing about your Clipper encounters. But maybe slow down a bit and put a little extra care and you can avoid those kind of comments.

Not Rude

As much as I think the Clippers might be able to do better than CMDsr…
I do not think even he deserves so much public ridicule, name calling, and blaming…it even got on Sports Center! common!

Anyways, I am a TRUE Clippers fan…through thick or thin…so whoever the personnel, whoever the staff, whoever the coach….I would support them because its my team. There’s a fine line between constructive criticism and being rude…and many “fans” crossed that line last season.

…if i were being bashed like that for 82 games and then some, i’d be at least a little agitated at any remark against me.

And in fact I do remember being at games when CMDsr kept saying “RUN RUN RUN”….but only Mike Taylor was because that’s all he does…

And it is true that players like EB and Bobby Simmons bought into CMDsr’s “working hard”…and that is why they are making $$

Your rant, has CMDsr saying true things (maybe a little harsh, but toward a disgruntled fan its understandable).

by KidJustin on Aug 18, 2009 11:19 AM PDT reply actions   1 recs

I remember being at games

like vs. Charlotte and a “fan” right next to me yelling to put in DJ because the season was lost..etc.etc.
CMDsr actually yelled back saying that DJ is not playing because of a bad back.

..DJ never played that game and I asked him the truth about it…but never got a response.

if anything fans are just rude…disregard what happen to the Clippers last season…i dont think any human being deserved to hear it that much…especially its not all his fault
Whenever my girlfriend (she’s a fan because i’m a fan…so she doesnt know much about the “nba/basketball news/going ons”) and I were at a game, she would always question/be disgusted at why people were always saying those things…

anyways, the team faltered as a whole because the team has problems. it can’t be all blamed at him…many players just did not show up all season. remember the stretch when we were playing good when it was only the rookies and 2nd/3rd stringers playing?….they showed up and we played well….CMDsr was still the coach.

…i’m not a CMDsr lover, just supporting my organization and saying what’s right.
last thing we need in LA is disrespectful Clippers fans next to the Lakers rioters fans…

Your Rude

To bring up what he has herd over and over again!! what do u think he was gonna listen to you and take notes. I would say your lucky he didnt knock you out for being such a smuk!! Oh yea you cant Run if you cant stop the ball on the other end and when they did every time mdsr screamed run run run so im with him it was on the players baron was so out of shape and it starts with him.

by masonjoussa on Aug 18, 2009 11:29 AM PDT reply actions

So.....

you asked him if the team was going to be uptempo and he went off on you?

I had a hard time believing your Thornton story but this is a load of shit. No way he goes off on you for asking if this team is going to play uptempo. He’s been thrown under the magnifying glass numerous times. He’s heard ’fire Dunleavy" chants for a better part of last season. And he still kept his cool.

Not to mention if a PROFESSIONAL COACH was caught yelling and cursing at some random guy in the gym (which he would of in your scenario) it would of been reported somewhere…anywhere. The media love shit like that.

So why to go! Great story pal!

by dulciusEXasperis on Aug 18, 2009 11:54 AM PDT reply actions

maybe camby23 is MDsr!

he said he reads clipsnation maybe he is testing this blog and seeing our reactions

if this is true, in 2 posts he has so far learned:
it is agreed that Al Thornton can be distracted
we don’t like the idea of no Ramon Sessions
if it were a fight between MDsr and a “Fire MDsr Fan”…we would side with MDsr
we don’t like post with ALL CAPS

by KidJustin on Aug 18, 2009 1:03 PM PDT reply actions

I'm not sure if we side with Dunleavy

as opposed to how believeable is Camby23’s story. I want to believe it, I really do. But in what part would he start yelling and cursing after the first question? I’d side with a Clippersfan over Dunleavy anyday, but the story has to be believeable first.

I don’t think Dunelavy would go off on some random person and it is very hard to take anything seriously WHEN IT IS WRITTEN IN ALL CAPS LOCK. If you want us to at least consider believing you learn to use a key board.

Ha. Don't forget to eat right

It’s always a must in working out. Oh, and don’t overwork yourself. I believe studies have shown that you see less results if you dont result every other day and you push yourself too hard. Just a quick reminder. (:

Yeah, you're a liar

Unlike what people infer about you from your posts, MDSr is a very articulate and good at communicating his thoughts. He’s not going to blow up in public, especially to a random kid. Even if you made fun of his mom or his suits.

by Polish Rifle on Aug 18, 2009 6:13 PM PDT up reply actions

It's more understandable to get mad at the owner

than MD getting mad at some random fan. MD getting mad at the owner; that’s just business or part of the game. He did it to save his job. To show his confidence in the “product” he’s selling to the team.

But he’s not going to lose it to a punk fan and using the Sterling issue is a poor example.

He didn’t say anything mean to you guys, and he obviously reads this blog a lot and he’s a CLIPPER FAN god damnit stop being such d-bags.

He's right.....

The other day I was having lunch at Canter’s on Fairfax with Adolf Hitler (and yes, I see the irony in hanging out in a Jewish deli with the leader of the Nazi party but he freakin’ LOVES the Matzo Ball Soup) and John Wayne and we were talking about this very thing.

It IS wrong to make fun of someone’s lack of sentence structure, writing comprehension and horrible spelling while they’re telling an incredible lie.

Sorry man.

By the way, Adolf says hi.

And wants to know if you need a tissue.

And a hug.
