John Lucas to Join Clips as Assistant!
This is from Lisa Dillman:
reallisaJohn Lucas over in Clipper offices now. Completing finishing touches for him to join Clippers as assistant coach. One-year deal. More TK.
GREAT news as far as I'm concerned. Lucas is WELL respected by players around the league and helps bolster our reputation as a changed franchise.

No gang...... Independent....
Attention to detail
These are the kinds of moves that mean a ton but that most fans and bad organizations don’t understand the value of. It’s not always about paying big money for players. It’s about building a quality organization from the top down and bringing in quality staff.
With the new training facility and actually making desireable offers to guys like John Lucas, I’m really impressed. I never thought Sterling would agree to pay for things like that. He never seemed to understand how important they were. Now we’re making moves that signal to the rest of the league that the Clips are starting to “get it” and care about doing the little things to build a quality team.
You can knock Dun’s coaching (and I do) but somehow he has Sterling’s checkbook hostage.

Good move to groom him for Head Coach,
MDSr. may be doing a good job after all?
LA Times Link.

according to that link, lucas trains lebron...
planning ahead to make a play for lebron in 2010?
Heh
He has a worse head coaching record than MDSr, but its “Good news” and “a good job”.
I guess to be honest we would have to stop banging on MDSr’s W/L. But when hating on MDSr, its rarely about honesty so I won’t hold my breath.
Well to be fair
We didn’t hire him as a head coach. Many assistant coaches around the league don’t even have head coaching experience, let alone a sterling win-loss record.
Plus, when comparing him to who was already on the coaching staff as assistants, it’s an obvious upgrade.
Curious how some equate fairly criticizing a coach's horrible sub .400 w'l record
with “hating.” I guess those folks are just more comfortable as lemmings. I find that sad, but it is what it is.
I assume this means no Gurgurich

This is pretty sweet
Dunleavy’s in a groove right now, hopefully he can somehow carry it over into the regular season.
