Hope This Isn't A Bad Omen

Well, maybe we can get all bad luck out of the way before the season starts. Our own Blake Griffin had the honor of throwing out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium tonight. Did he bring the boys in blue any luck? Well as of this writing its the bottom of the 8th and they're down 4 zip to the lowly Dbacks.

Star-divide

Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp did the honors of catching Blake. They're both Oklahoma boys, and I wonder if they already knew each other. They seemed pretty chummy. Maybe this means we'll be seeing Kemp at some of the Clipper games now.

Clippers Basketball.... It's Masochistic!

f**k luck

just play the game properly and get some team action going on (something that was hardly seen last season).

Dodgers are going to the play offs so since Blake threw out a pitch for them, their competitive edge and hard work will translate over to the Clipps ;)

To your article,

yes Matt Kemp knew Blake Griffin before the professional sports. If I remember correctly, Tyler Griffin? played on the same team as Matt Kemp in basketball, but Matt has always ben a Blake kind of guy.

I wondered who was the better basketball player. Tyler Griffin or Kemp

"They're both Oklahoma boys, and I wonder if they already knew each other"

As JackduhSun said they did know each other growing up. Kemp played basketball with BG’s older brother. And apparently they’ve been hanging out together now. Griffin accompanied Kemp to a Dodger bowling night. Kemp is developing into a star in LA, the though of Kemp becoming a supporter of the Clips (because of BG) is pretty cool.

Wasn't there a post about getting up and comers to become clipper fans?

This would be a good start, who knows maybe when the clips play well Kemp will bring some his friends and they will become celebrity clip fans.

In Gordon we trust

Yup. I said then that Matt Kemp would be our star :)

It may not sound big now, but it will be...

Matt Kemp is having the best year of his career and hasn’t even peaked yet. He’s a five tool player who has 40/40 potential. I know that this is a basketball site, but if he ever does realize this potential and comes to some Clipper games he may end up being a big celebrity.

that's kind of sad

good thing BOTH Griffin brothers are humble/nice people.

You play basketball with someone, hang out with them….then couple years down the road they (publicly) become your younger brother’s friend and you get little to no comments.

I read somewhere that while Taylor (older Griffin) as struggling to get a job/contract, he knew all along Blake (younger Griffin) already had things guaranteed, but he was okay with it.

Personally, I would have a hard time embracing myself under my younger brother’s shadow. But it is really nice of Taylor to be the kind of person he is.

Blake and Kemp were playing one on one basketball in the lockeroom. They were supposed to have a dunk contest but it didn’t come off. I expect Ned Coletti and Mike D were none to happy to here they were goofing around in the crowded lockerroom.

By bad omen...

I thought you were referring to how Baron threw the first pitch at a Dodger game last season, and then proceeded to have the lackluster season that he had.

Matt Kemp at Clippers games

My buddy and I asked Matt Kemp at his signing if he was going to come see Blake Griffin play this season, and he said he definitely would. He also shook his head and chuckled at us when we told him we were Clippers fans. When we left I said, “I’ll see you at the Clippers games” and Kemp responded, “Yea, I’ll be there in my Lakers jersey”. Cool guy, too bad he’s a Lakers fan =P
