Rubio may not come over until 2012

After reading this article by Chris Sheridan, I'm pretty convinced that Minnesota knew that the likelihood was that Rubio would not be joining them for 3 more seasons. Sheridan explains that Rubio will greatly benefit monetarily if he stays in Barcelona for 3 years as opposed to 2. He says when you look at at what is at stake, that it is practically a no-brainer for Rubio to stay overseas. This could explain their pursuit of Sessions who just so happens to have a player option in the 4th year (Rubio's possible 1st season). Another thought pertains to us is that 2012 is the year where the lottery protection wears off of our pick that is owed from the Wolves. Let's say he still doesn't want to be a timberwolf, we could potentially offer them their pick back in a package. Baron will be entering into the final year of his contract as a $14.75 million expiring, so it's not like he can't be moved. It's hard to project what our salary situation would be like then (only 3 current players are under contract in 2012 as of today), but it could be a possibility that would really exciting.
