Blake had an amazing first quarter of his first game during the nationally televised season opener. You couldn't have asked for a better intro. His athletic dunks are absolute highlight material.
Blake has also started to feature some range on his shooting, especially his bank shots and his spinning jump hooks. His free throw shooting is also starting to come around.
What has concerned me (small concern at this point) is that Blake's effectiveness and explosiveness seems to be waning as the young season rolls on. Where are the highlight plays?
Maybe it's too much to expect him to play at that high energy level for long. Perhaps teams are playing him differently or that the Clips have become so depleted with injuries that they can shut Blake down.
Here's a short list of the concerns that I have noted in Blake's games of late. Share your comments - supportive or opposing.
- Doesn't play as well in the 2nd half. Does he get tired fast?
- He seems to lose focus and concentration during parts of the game.
- Last night he actually jogged down the court at relatively slow speed as Chris Paul went coast to coast. Blake didn't seem to change his speed as he saw Paul blow by him. I was surprised by his lack of reaction. Was he just tired?
- There are moments where it looks like Blake he wants to give up. I don't see the confidence or fire in him that I would expect. Surprisingly, we seem to see that confidence and fire now in Gordon.
Is anyone seeing these same things?
