A better goal for this year is not the playoffs (who are we kidding anyways?) nor next year's 1st round draft pick (which I think we've already won hands down) , but to be the toughest defensive team in the West.
So instead of teaching our young players offensive plays, just concentrate teaching them the fundamentals of defense.
Instead of aiming for our team to score 25-30pts on the every quarter, let the team aim to limit the opposing teams to 15-20 pts. per quarter.
Wins will be counted on every game that you limit the opponents below 80 points and losses if they score more than 80 points.
The team gets extra points for every steal, block, offensive rebounds, deflections, 24 second violations on the other team, etc. and these will be deducted from the total score of the opposing team in determining their net points.
Rather than concentrating on how to score, concentrate on how to defend.
This will be a more worthy cause than winning games (which I think is not worth tallying at all because there will be few anyways).
Am I crazy or not?
