Biggest Off-Season Signing
Will be the coach. The big free agents aren’t going to play for a ‘project’; the Clippers need to invest in a big name, who comes with earned goodwill in the NBA.
Max contract = 30% of salary cap = ~$16M
And no no no, a thousand times no, you cannot sign LBJ (or anyone else remotely so expensive) and also sign our free agents. To sign LBJ, we need cap space, and to gain this cap space, we need to renounce our free agents (and all their Bird rights). So you can’t do both; If you start the season under the salary cap, then you can’t get above it. The rules are pretty thorough about that.
If we sign LBJ then
we have to sign everyone else on minimum contracts right.

Yep
We also have a pretty high draft pick coming up which could help the bench some. Let’s just say for the sake of utopia we do get LBJ and then we draft a nice swingman type in Wesley Johnson here would be our team.
SG – EJ
PG – Baron
C – Kaman
PF – Blake Griffin
SF – LBJ
Bench – DJ, Wesley Johnson
We could bring Big Sofo over from Greece finally, then we go after a few old vets looking to get a ring. Names like Raja Bell, Earl Watson come to mind. Could also buy a 2nd round pick for that inevitable college star that drops for strange reasons (like Dejuan Blair).

30% or 105% of his current salary (whichever is greater)
$16,568,908 = 105% of $15,779,912

LBJ wouldnt come to LA because...
Why would any king want to share his territory. I have spent nights arguing with friends and other fans trying to figure out why he wouldnt come to LA with the great young core that we have. That being EJ, BG, and work in process DJ. The biggest stumbling block that i have is King James wants to have his own city and as long as Kobe is in town he will always be king. I dont care who you are, Laker fans are ignorant fools and Kobe=God to them. I hear it day in and day out. (Including that every Laker should be a perennial all star) That is why i think LBJ will not be a Clipper next year for the simple fact that he doesnt want to share….

Well for one if Lebron came to LA
he wouldn’t be sharing LA with Kobe, Kobe would be sharing LA with him. And LA non clipper fans have extremely short memories, if Lebron comes here and outplays Kobe which is very possible given Kobe’s age and recent injuries then LA will forget about Kobe and bandwagon on Lebron. The same thing happened in LA when the clips made the playoffs and the Lakers weren’t that good. Media and attention shifted to the clips and the band wagoners came in droves. If anything I think Lebron would relish the opportunity to come to LA to expand his brand and he would get a chance to play Kobe 4 times a year instead of just twice and maybe in the Finals. But I do agree that I don’t really think that there is that high of a chance Lebron leaves the Cavs especially if they win the championship. However if they don’t win the chamionshp or get embarrassed in con. finals again then I think the chances of him leaving skyrocket. And no other team then the clips would provide him with as good a team from the get go.

Also if Lebron does want to come here
he also gets the chance that most NBA players don’t get. The clippers would most likely let Lebron choose his own coach. Just another positive only the clippers could give him.

Hmm he has that option right now really
If he told Danny Ferry that he has to choose between Mike Brown or him then Coach Brown should start packing his stuff into a box. Of course LBJ isn’t like that and is a good guy by all reports so this is moot.

The difference is here he could choose a coach without kicking one to the curb
Clips have no coach right now.
My prediction
Lebron signs with the clippers and becomes power hungry. He wins the championship and then the King becomes emperor dictator of LA and will force us to bow to a poster of him 6 times a day.

Well...
We have a lot to offer Lebron..
- Quite possibly the best training facility in the league.
- L.A., and everything that comes with it. (weather, Hollywood, etc)
- Choose your head coach!
- Pretty good starting lineup (Kaman, Griffin, Gordon, Baron)
I really don’t think he’s coming here. I still have hope, but I really think he’ll stay home in Ohio.

Hmm
No idea if we have the best practice facility in the league having never seen any other one to compare it to.
Not everyone loves the LA scene, of course this doesn’t apply to LBJ as he would definitely love it
Not every head coach is available… would be the all-time coup if we got Phil from the Lakers. Maybe we need to get Phil and Jeanie Buss to break up.
We have a good starting lineup, the Bulls also have made some moves that could rival our lineup though (Noah, Hinrich, Deng and Rose)
The Knicks and the Bulls (and even the Heat) have a lot to offer. Hopefully Blake Griffin’s awesomeness can sway LBJ into coming here.

If clips can't land a top of the class FA
Could they afford/would they want to pursue two mid-tier guys, like, say Manu and captain Jack? For what it’s worth, you’d have a versatile group with lots of lineup combos for new coach (van gundy?).
- baron (1, 2)
- Gordon (1, 2)
- Manu (3-2)
- Jackson (3-2)
- Blake (4-3)
- rhino (4)
- kaman (5, 4)
- dj (5)
…add in our 2010 pick (wall ;)), and minny’s looming high pick as a plan to restock and the future, my friends, is bright.
…now to get rid of the douchebag owner.

I don't think going after Manu is good idea
he has passed his prime and isn’t getting any better so I would say pass on Manu, and I am not at all a fan of Capt. Jack so I would say not even a chance on the Captain.

It won't be the end of the world if we don't get a max player
there are so many free agents out there, that the flood will allow us to sign good players for cheap.
Knicks are now is good standing to be major players in free agency
Not looking good for the Clippers
