would you trade baron for arenas?

So I was listening to the bill simmons pod cast, and hearing how he thought that if the knicks strike out this summer (and i think they will since they completely gutted their team and draft picks for years), that they would probably actually entertain trading for arenas.

Now, assuming arenas doesnt go to jail,  and we strike out this summer,  given arenas only makes a little more than baron, would you be in favor of a baron davis + some of our cap space, for arenas trade?  We could use the rest of our cap space to resign outlaw and blake etc.

Am I just really disgusted at baron of late, or is this totally insane?

No.

I would trade Baron for Calderon though.

literal LOL

Amazing. And I agree. “Do not want” pretty much sums it up.

At least I'm also a Redskins fan... oh wait. My sports life sucks.

No way.

However, I would consider signing Arenas provided he was voided and we traded Baron to Washington for pure salary relief where we could still sign a big time free agent.

Your insane

Arenas is actually a lot more pricey than Baron (4 years/80 million) versus (3 years/40 million) and he’s a combo guard. Baron has been a dog lately but he still seems like a Saint compared to Agent Zero.

Hell no

Arenas has been playing worse then Baron and I don’t being in jail for a couple years(or months seeing as he is a celebrity) will help his game.

I would trade Baron Davis for the waterboy of any other NBA team.

I’m amazed at how many Baron Davis apologists this site has.

He is an awful player, probably in the lower 10 percentile of the entire league.

I've got nothing.

This is just like

one of those HVYTD.. comments, all personal opinions. Lower 10 percentile of the entire league? Really? So we’re saying an A.S. pg barley beats out 10% of the talent? Boy oh boy, your knowledge must be within 10 percentile of this entire board then.

BD is playing bad...

but he’s not one of the worst in the league, not by far….HOWEVER, for the amount he is making, he grades out as one of the poorest performers based on contract size. Telfair is way worse, but making way less. I’m willing to give him 1 more year under a decent coach that knows how to use him before throwing him completely under the bus…

Eh

I’m grateful for Baron still. There’s no dounbt his career has been in turmoil since joining us. Half of it is because of coaching and the other half is possibly because of age. Either way, while Baron doesnt deserve the contract he currently is assigned, he’s still a legit pg in my opinion. The problem with Baron, as everyone has mentioned, is moltivation and offense style.

Notice how the moment Dunleavy steped down was when Dunleavy decided to pull the plug on the season. I find this unfair for Kim Hughes as he now is not working with roster, or even remotely close to one. Now I’m not saying I don’t support the deals, and I’m not saying Kim Hughes deserves any compassion, but Kim Hughes has to work with Steve Blake, Craig Smith, Kaman, Gordon, and (Outlaw) Butler. If we get past 25 wins this season, I’d be amazed.

But not only is this unfair towards Kim Hughes, this becomes an unfair advantage for Baron Davis. We as Clippers fan stress that this is now Baron’s team. With the way things are dramatically changing, Baron has to yet again adjust to having Smith downlow and having Chris Kaman set the pick and rolls. This is not encouraing and we are NOT letting Baron play the game he is designed to.

I don’t want this to come off as "this is 0% Baron’s fault, as Baron deserves a good amount of blame also, but our system is in its worse shape. What once was Baron’s turn to show if it was coach or player is now (from what i feel) managements show.

yeah ok, i guess i underestimated on arena’s salary.

20 mil a year is pretty crazy, i’m thinking we could get a taker for baron before then.

granted baron is older, and i think arenas really is as much a pg as say derrick rose is , but people are pretty conflicted on what position he really plays.

that said, maybe im just really sick of watching baron only care 2 out of 5 games.

I always see Arena as a shoot first pass second guy

Baron use to dot he same, but Baron has been passing the ball very well. Of course, now that everyone else has given up, Baron has been looking sluggish, but in the beginning of the season, I think we did pretty good. He didn’t live up to his contract, but he wasn’t that bad.

His contract is OUTRAGEOUS!

Trade for him? No.

His contract is voided and he can be had for cheap? Sure.

The REAL question here is

who could be more durable…?
Arenas has a refurbished knee, so he has lost more than two steps, and Baron used to be injured frequently, but not as much anymore. Age a factor? Don’t think so. Look at Nash, Billups and Kidd, specially the first 2 who like to run a lot. So what do those 3 PGs have always had that Baron, if he had that, would be an HOF’er himself? Two things: a positive attitude and discipline. They know the coaches talk and they listen, something Baron has never really done and will never really do, because, alas, he knows he is talented! But he is not disciplined. Anyways, plain and simple, Baron over Agent 0. Just bring the right coach in, the Hell with Hugues.

by DonaldSterlingSucks on Feb 19, 2010 2:38 AM PST reply actions

Baron may not be the same player he was in GS, but at least he is on the court most of the season…

Arenas has been very disappointing for the last 2 years straight. Agent zero is doneski, the clippers have enough trouble as it is, they cant afford to take a gamble on 00

In Kobe we trust!
