Kaman found a new way to dodge playing in PHX, how long before he does it again?

What's with the Kaman hate lately... really

He’s our best player and he had a string of double doubles until last game. Some of you have memories worse than the guy from Memento.

Baron

already has 4 rebounds and 3 assist. 0-4 shooting though. Still… he could get a triple double tonight.

what ive noticed about Baron and Blake is

Baron seems to limit EJ’s touches when Blake makes it a duty to get him the ball

Baron dosent even look for out wing players

either looks for himself or the bigs…he should never take more than 7 shots a game

He's been solid

You can’t expect bigs to pass the ball in traffic. He should try to put the ball back on the offensive boards instead of looking to pass.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 28, 2010 7:09 PM PST up reply actions

Gooden is a solid player

he’s a starting PF in the league for borderline playoff teams. The Mavs needed bigger guys though, Gooden isn’t big enough to play center against the top guys.

I honestly dont think we can be a winning team

with both Baron and Kaman on this team….would luv to see one of them go

by thegrifters on Feb 28, 2010 7:09 PM PST reply actions

BD before Chris everytime

Kaman is solid just has those nights. Season means nothing and its being reflected in his game. Remember when we were hovering around .500 for the first couple of months he was damn near perfect every single game.

by dulciusEXasperis on Feb 28, 2010 7:12 PM PST up reply actions

I'll pack for Kaman

His attitude and effort after all these years as a Clippers be good thing to get rid ogf him and get a physical shot blocking big to complement Griffin.

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 7:13 PM PST up reply actions

Name a big

we could realistic get that would be a improvement over him. Yea I’d love Dwight Howard but its not going to happen.

FA in 2010.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 28, 2010 7:15 PM PST up reply actions

I'd take a Kendrick Perkins right now

We don’t need Kaman or a Center that needs to score to be productive we need someone to get down low and been a presence espcially when Blake gets back.

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 7:16 PM PST up reply actions

Ok again

you think we can get Perkins? Throw out options instead of just wishful thinking.

FA in 2010.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 28, 2010 7:17 PM PST up reply actions

Don't think we can packagea deal for Kaman

The hype is a high sell right now you could convince some team to take him. Espcially now with the Celtics falling off and neediing to retool if things go down hill. Ainge said if the Celtics get bounced early big changes will happen.

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 7:20 PM PST up reply actions

I'd go easy on Blake

who the hell knows what he’s going to contribute….just saying. He hasn’t played ONE game. You have no idea how he’s going to mesh and play with these guys. Could be perfect because he can clog the paint while Kaman hovers around that 15 foot shot he loves.

by dulciusEXasperis on Feb 28, 2010 7:20 PM PST up reply actions

That is the problem he shots the jumper way to often

I agree we don’t know how Blake will respond in the league but we know Kaman isn’t taking us anywhere with his play

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 7:22 PM PST up reply actions

but he's definitely a very solid player when he's not dogging it (again, was playing amazing leading up to the all star break)

Adding Griffin to the mix is going to make this team better. I know a lot of us are hoping, me included, that he’s the player that gets us those wins to put us at, and over, .500. I wouldn’t move Chris unless we’re back here again next season. Not a lot of bigs out there doing what he’s been doing. We’d be losing a lot and we’ve seen what its like when Chris was out those couple of games.

by dulciusEXasperis on Feb 28, 2010 7:28 PM PST up reply actions

never said he was

unless that’s directed at the post above mine

by dulciusEXasperis on Feb 28, 2010 7:33 PM PST up reply actions

Like the announcers said

Baron is creating everything for Kaman. Yiu want to go deeper into it the Second player of the Week award Chris Kaman won was during the week fed him every easy look in the book. I remember it aw to well Baron was drawing defenders well away from Kaman so he could get easy looks

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 7:39 PM PST up reply actions

saw the same thing when Eric Gordon was out and Kaman was in

We need a big post on how that run with Kaman out has been looked into way to deep. We are bad no matter who is in or out we just lose by more points if a starter is out

I’d give Kaman another season with Blake but I only ansewered the question if we had to get rid of Baron or Kaman who would you pick and I choose and always will Chris Kaman.

To ther other point Kaman was horrible going into All-Star weekend and was playing poorly with padded stats after he came back from the injury.

Again we don’t NEED a Center that does what Kaman does.

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 7:36 PM PST up reply actions

Hmm let me get this right

a team that has a trouble scoring, with no other inside scoring threat needs to give up the top scoring center in the league.

FA in 2010.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 28, 2010 7:38 PM PST up reply actions

that was pretty dumb top scoring Center yet the team has problems scoring

What is your point then? Also Kaman is barley hovering over .500 most of the season currently 492. He’s not even the top coring Center in the league anymore Lee is and Kaman is tied with Brook Lopez

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 7:43 PM PST up reply actions

The point is

How does that help the team. It’s not as if we have a surplus of scoring. My bad, he’s only 2nd in the league in scoring now, even though Lee is really a PF playing C for the Knicks since they don’t bother playing defense.

FA in 2010.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 28, 2010 7:47 PM PST up reply actions

Then so is Brook Lopez

Yes I know their record but ours isn’t pretty either. We do have a surplus of scoring just isn’t team oriented scoring we don’t pass the ball enough or have the offensive scheme for it to mean anything. With Griffin we probably will need to limit the scorers on the court because Baron and EJ will get theres and the SF will most likely be a scorer with Blake and Kaman down low.

Best thing for the team may be toget a player who is a hustle player defender down low to cover for Blake

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 8:00 PM PST up reply actions

You have the roles reversed

Early on anyways its pretty obvious that Blake is going to be the hustle player you are talking about. I think they will work together well.

FA in 2010.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 28, 2010 8:01 PM PST up reply actions

Some of you guys are seriously being stupid

In all seriousness, he’s a good center. He’s flawed but we could do much worse than Chris Kaman at the center position. Do you realize how BAD we are without him? 0-6 this year with a average loss of 16 points.

FA in 2010.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 28, 2010 7:30 PM PST up reply actions

So sick of that damn stat we lost games without Gordon and people were crying for him

The players said themselves they aren’t the same without Gordon. What a stupid comment to add as well You know what we are even without the 0-6… WE ARE STILL A LOSING TEAM!

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 7:47 PM PST up reply actions

Different levels of losing

Without Kaman we are a 19 win type team (see last year). At least we have some chance of fielding a semi competent team with him out there.

Ummm he's been our best player tonight

8 pts 4 rebounds, 3-4 shooting. The turnovers suck but 2 of them came off offensive rebounds so they are kind of a wash. I think our guards are getting killed tonight.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 28, 2010 7:19 PM PST up reply actions

H had a turnover when he had a clear pass out to a open player

He is playing slow it may be due to the back to back but regardless of the point he is not one tonight.

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 7:23 PM PST up reply actions

He seems to care more than the other guys

his Dad is even in town from Oakland for the game. I’m more concerned with the lack of energy from EJ, DJ and Steve Blake tonight.

FA in 2010.

Never said he didn't care said he was having a bad night

He is hustling but nothing is working and he is getting out played andboth ends. Sometimes you sit a player because you have to not becasue you want to.

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 7:27 PM PST up reply actions

10 points 6 rebounds

Are we watching the same game? The problem is clearly the inability of our guards of keeping Tyreke Evans out of the lane. Also not seeing EJ do much except wait for pass to launch a jumper.

FA in 2010.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 28, 2010 7:34 PM PST up reply actions

Whats wrong with fouls

Sometimes that shows effort, especially from the bigs. The turnovers were off offensive rebounds and he couldn’t find anyone to pass to. It’s not as if he dribbled it off his foot.

FA in 2010.

Give him the And 1 it was neeeded

But overall his game ha been toned some and pretty sloppy didn’t want him to be glued to the bench just limited on a off night. Gordon has been a damn ghost this game he needs to kick it up

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 8:10 PM PST up reply actions

I think our guys forget

that they aren’t that good and need to play HARD all 48 minutes to compete. The top level teams can slack off and still win ugly. We need to play hard to ever have a shot of winning, even against bad teams.

They do

most of these guys are playing for millions on their next contracts. Butler, Rhino, Outlaw, Blake and Gooden stand to make or lose themselves millions these next 6 weeks. I hope we win.

Of the 3 new signings, Blake has to be the top priority, followed by Outlaw and then Gooden. We have Griffin, so Gooden is expendable. If we sign Bron bron, outlaw is expendable. Blake however, is needed as starting/backup PG.

by RockyMountain on Feb 28, 2010 8:01 PM PST reply actions

Outlaw is more of a need

We definitely need a upgrade at SF. Outlaw could do the job and he’s young. Blake’s a solid PG but more of a luxury seeing how he’ll play only 20 mpg while our next SF will get 30+ minutes per game.

Thats because he's not a high flyer

if we could combine DJ’s dunking with Kaman’s skill then we’d have a all-time great. Unfortunately Kaman isn’t that explosive and relies on stupid layups instead.

he doesn't have to be a high flyer

He’ not missing layups in traffic. Chris Kaman is missing point blank shots around the rim and I put this on my life 80% of the time there is no defender around him if there is there isn’t one who can contest his dunk. I’m not asking him to leap across the floor just jump straight up and dunk

Gooden 0.6 per game and Kaman 1.8

You’re correct. I’m not saying Kaman or Gooden never pass. They’re just not very good passing from the post. Gooden is averaging 0.6 assists per game this year and Kaman only 1.8 which is actually up from his career average of 1.3.

by Mike Wr on Feb 28, 2010 8:42 PM PST up reply actions

2 Ast is solid for a center

unless the NBA moves to hockey type assists then centers get short changed on assists. Aside from a kickout to a 3 point shooter or a cutter they won’t get any assists. Bigs assisting to other bigs is pretty rare, aside from Gasol and KG no one else in the league has bigs that can pass in traffic.

If you run plays for the guy he’s going to turn it over. Guys like Biedrins etc don’t turn it over since all their points come off broken plays or offensive rebounds.

It had everything to do with the point guard

Baron was walking the ball up the court. He as the point guard decides the tempo of the game. EJ was also guarding Evans on the defensive end of the floor and that took alot out of him. I will admit EJ looked tired, but so did every player on the Clippers.

his body type makes you think otherwise but he doesn’t play with full athleticism like a Wade or Brandon Roy. Maybe that will change but right now he hasn’t tied it together.

I'll also give him slack because of the toe

From what I gathered that toe will never be right

yeah didn't like hearing that

hopefully gets it taken care of as best he can over the break

I will say it agian 21 years old!

The kid is in his second year. He has been coming on of late. In the last five games he was averaging 20 ppg, 4 assists, 48% shooting, and 47% 3pt shooting.

He's had a somewhat disappointing year

I haven’t seen much improvement from him over last year. Tyreke Evans is only 20 and clearly has “it”. Not even sure what “it” is but EJ doesn’t appear to have found “it”.

…the Clips could have gone up by 10. but too many turnovers and missed open shots

Nope not in this league

The average person would think that was the case tonight. It certainly looked like the Clippers were coming from a back to back to back. The clippers were lazy!

At least its a home game

we are awful on the road, we are actually a solid home team (17-12). The Jazz are just a average road team so I’d think we have a chance except for the fact the Jazz make us call them papi.

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 8:39 PM PST up reply actions

He isn't?

Would think he’s 1st or 2nd on that team. Too lazy to look it up but I’d bet a pretty penny he has the most shot attempts since he’s been on the Wiz.

Nope I'm way wrong

Blatche has been a beast lately. 27 pts, 12 rebs 4 ast the last 5 games. Guy is putting it all together.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 28, 2010 8:48 PM PST up reply actions

tonight he was 7-13 and 6-6 from the FT line.

think he’s only chucked up a bunch of shots once since being traded. Blatche has been the #1 option

by dulciusEXasperis on Feb 28, 2010 8:50 PM PST up reply actions

AT

he’s 2nd in attempts in the last 5 games with 60 shots. Just ahead of Foye who has 56 in the 5 games. So I guess he’s settled into the 2nd or 3rd option now with Josh Howard out for the year.

FA in 2010.

by ClipperChuck on Feb 28, 2010 8:52 PM PST up reply actions

Think the little experiment with Howard was good for Thornton

I honestly hope Thornton can become a Howard type player and from keeping up with the team Thornton is soaking in a lot of positives from Howard.

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 8:57 PM PST up reply actions

likely 3rd option

Foye gets to choose who gets the ball. Better player too. A solid 15 pts, 7 ast the past 5 games.

points off our turnovers have been our achilles heel

Our offense is fine, even when we’re going through those shooting droughts. It’s taking care of the ball that digs our grave. And our defense could use some work.

by dulciusEXasperis on Feb 28, 2010 8:40 PM PST reply actions

Our offense is NOT fine!

Very little movement, lack of cutting, very little hard screens, out of positioning, our spacing is bad, lack of urgency, lazy, no ball or player movement…..need I go on?

by NBAFAN8 on Feb 28, 2010 8:54 PM PST up reply actions

bro we win this game if we take care of the ball

Same goes for the other close games. We give them a 20 point handicap by turning the ball over that much. We’re 28 in the league in turnovers. That’s giving up a lot of free points. Considering this team (with the new Clippers) have kept games competitive, we’d be rolling right now if we could just take care of the ball.

22 fast break points for Sac tonight, a number of them off turnovers. The Clips had 6 fast break points in comparison.

Yup Milph confirmed it

the kings didn’t get a full possesion until Hawes got the ball. Smart stuff

by KillaClip on Feb 28, 2010 8:45 PM PST reply actions

What the F$%# was that!?

That was the laziest I have sen the Clippers play all season. This was a game we should have won. Everyone played lazy! Our guards shot the ball terrible. Baron and Gordon combined 9-30 shooting. Throw Outlaw in there and they were 13-40!

Our bigs were also just as terrible. Kaman’s night might look like he had a good game, but he and Gooden were turning the ball over and not passing when we had wide open shooters open. As a team the Clippers only had 14 assists.

I don’t know what the players deal was tonight, but I think it has everything to do with Baron Davis. He wa walking the ball up the floor almost every possesion. There was atleast 5 times that I thought he was go9ing to get an 8 second count. Baron needs to undstand that as the pg he decides the tempo of the offense. We also had a few possesions towards the end of the game that got us very bad looks at the basket, also we had very few fast break buckets.

I hope we are rady to play vs. the Jazz!

the games against the Warriors and Suns (on National Television on Christmas Day no less) were far worse. The team at least kept it interesting throughout. I’ve seen far worse : (

Sac is not that far away from being a winning team

Sac has only $30+ million committed in salaries for next year. If they could pick up a big plus a scorer, they could finish over .500.

by Mike Wr on Feb 28, 2010 9:04 PM PST reply actions

They have some nice young players

and they do appear to have a future superstar in Evans. Landry, Thompson, Hawes are fairly interesting bigs. Casspi looks like he’ll be a difference maker. I think Greene has some potential too. Not a bad core for a rebuilding project.

going to the Suns game this Wednesday…I really hope they put some effort in it.. Clippers of past used to at least TRY hard, even though they had no talent. It seems like the theme of this year is to have tons of talent with NO effort, a la Baron Davis, who is the epitome of wasted potential. I feel like that sort of attitude soaks down to all the players on the Clips..

by Fan of the Game on Feb 28, 2010 9:10 PM PST reply actions

My thoughts exactly!

Baron is the point guard and he decides the tempo of the game. Many Clipper fans want to see our young shooting guard Eric Gordon lead this team in scoring and even take over games. One huge problem. Baron Davis is our point guard and he is blocking EJ from doing so. Countless times the Clippers will run offensive sets that allow Baron to go either left or right. If EJ is on his left, which he usually is, Baron will not pass him the ball. There is a reason why EJ’s biggest scoring games come when Baron isn’t on the floor. There is no reason why Baron Davis should be shooting as many shots as he does on this team. For all of you that think Baron is having a good season, I feel sorry for you. You guys need to watch real point guards play. Baron like I have said before is a pathetic point guard. Baron is now 41-119 shooting this month, 34% and 9-35 from 3pt 26%. He is scoring JUST 10 points per game this month! This is also his lowest month for asisst. I understansd that we are out of the playoff race, but Baron is still getting paid 12.1 million to PLAY BASKETBALL!

Pretty sure if baron isn't getting EG touches it's because he is trying to feed Kaman

Besides hardly anyone passes to Gordon for one reason Gordon can be quite the lazy @$$ on offense he will stand in one spot and won’t move around the thing that Butler does running all over the court.
