With all of the negative posts and slamming on the guy, I feel like the positive things he's done for the organization have been drowned out.
Before he got here, the franchise was in disarray. The laughingstock of the league and completely irrelevant. Expectations, what expectations?
Since he's been here, the Clippers have regained some life.
Sterling has spent money on players, built a new practice facility and changed his attitude towards winning vs just plain ol making money.
The team was one shot away from making the Western Conference Finals.
The draft picks were good and subsequently the roster looks solid, probably one of the most solid rosters in Clipper history (on paper).
Expectations are high. There was real hope this year.
Now look at us fans, arguing on whether the playoffs are viable and angry at a 21-28 record. Would this have happened 10 years ago?
Whether or not people want to give credit for ANY of these changes (i.e. playoffs were all Cassell, Sterling was already spending money and that's why he was hired), the fact of the matter is, all of these things happened during his tenure.
It is time to move on with a new coach, the coaching system and the roster built didn't seem to be working out and a change needed to be made.
I think this is a good foundation to build off of. Hopefully the new coach can take advantage of it.
Thanks Mike
