Rick Bucher - MDSr retained as GM because DTS needs him as a witness against E Baylor
MDSr went along with the DTS charade re Baylor for several years. Now he has them over a barrel. The only reason he's there is to save DTSr's arse.
That I think puts to rest the canard that they're keeping him around because of his basketball acumen.
Pathetic.

That's not what Bucher says
He says that GMMDSR has done a good job as GM. Another reason is the DTS-Baylor case.
That makes it much less pathetic. Why fire a guy (as GM) who’s done a good job (as GM) when you want him to testify on your behalf?
Pathetic?
You found one news item to support your theory (a theory completely unsupported by any of the journalists who actually cover the team)… and every other theory is “pathetic”? Or is it Dunleavy that’s pathetic? Or Sterling?
Rick Bucher’s never been the most reliable sports journalist around and his anti-Clipper bias is almost legendary. But Bucher’s theory goes deeper. He’s suggesting that Mike Dunleavy’s version of events in regard to Elgin Baylor would change because of his employment situation with DTS. Really? Uh… actually, that’s slanderous. I suggest it should be ignored.
I like Dunleavy as the GM
I much rather have Dunleavy as the GM than Elgin. I think the Clippers made the right decision in firing Elgin.
Its unfortunate that Elgin pressed charges. When you hear another law suit against the Don, you automatically think he’s guilty before the trial started. Having Dunleavy testify since he is a witness has nothing to do with him retaining the job. He would be subpoened regardless if he were still employed or not. It would be on Dunleavy to testify under oath. Does Dunleavy lie for Sterling since he retained him as GM? I doubt it.
Wow.
That’s quite a conclusion.
“That I think puts to rest the canard that they’re keeping him around because of his basketball acumen.” Obviously you never believed the canard in the first place. Equally obviously, Rick Bucher saying “I’m told” this was also a factor doesn’t come close to putting anything to rest to someone who is open to any other possibility. That’s not you, you’re not open to it, we get that.
In this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. - Elwood P. Dowd
Wow
Obviously we don’t know what happened. I just put that out there to see who’d bite.
Interesting, but not altogether surprising, results. Kind of sad, but at least it’s out there.

So you were trolling
Neither outcome is particularly flattering of you.

It must be sad to have been proven so irrefutably wrong
