I can't stand Drew Gooden

Didn’t like him at Kansas, didn’t like on the Bulls, and I don’t like him on the Clippers.

lifeless effort from everyone not named rasual butler (and to a lesser extent deandre jordan)

No defense or presence on the boards. Can’t get over how lousy this miami roster is. Buncha has-been/washed up guys. Course they look great tonight (shocker).

You can beat the Heat if you reduce them to a one-man team.

jesus christ, kaman

Talk about mailing it in tonight. Seems to be the only person who didn’t get the memo that j o’neal is done.

by Joe Wolf's Mullet on Mar 10, 2010 5:22 PM PST via mobile reply actions

Hahaha

That is hilarious, sad thing is I talked to a guy today that said Kaman has been the Clippers best player this year. I disagreed with him…..

Since Neil is talking

I’ve been confused on this but do we have a second round pick this season?

by KillaClip on Mar 10, 2010 5:27 PM PST reply actions

I like what Neil Olshey said:

Q: What’s the biggest challenge for you?
A: Getting the players we have on the court now to want to win. We understand they’re veterans but we want them to win as bad as we in the front office want to.

Paraphrased, of course.

Sounded good to me.

by yaggiefresh on Mar 10, 2010 5:31 PM PST reply actions

not sure why anyone would

Quality contributions as always, however.

by Joe Wolf's Mullet on Mar 10, 2010 5:38 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

Anyone see the article about

Baron being all pissed because he didn’t start the Magic game? He was moaning to some b-ball blog about it. Olshey backed up Hughes’ decision because BD missed the morning shootaround with stomach pain. Typical BD. Man, I’ve really soured on him.

by The Only Team That Matters on Mar 10, 2010 5:59 PM PST reply actions

eh, non-issue to me

Just sounds like a player whose pride was hurt a little. I applaud hughes for it though. He knows he’s a lame duck but he’s exerting what little power he has when he needs to.

by Joe Wolf's Mullet on Mar 10, 2010 6:05 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

Accountability

Show up for practice, show leadership, lead the team.

by Mike Wr on Mar 10, 2010 6:03 PM PST reply actions

baron can be a slug and everyone always overreacts when he does anything wrong...

…But I like some of the passes he’s making lately. At least he’s still trying to make plays and not just be a jacker.

by Joe Wolf's Mullet on Mar 10, 2010 6:08 PM PST via mobile reply actions

He always responds incrementally to challenges...

For instance, him being more of a ball distributor is only because Blake is a pass-first PG. When there’s criticism about his energy, or his passing, he magically shows that tantalizing talent of his for a game or two. Then…back to form. The initiative and work ethic are what bugs me.

by The Only Team That Matters on Mar 10, 2010 6:11 PM PST up reply actions

well yeah... he's the type that always has to have an angle or needs an edge to perform

Coach always has to be in his ass, some opposing player has to rile him up, etc. Then again I’m pretty sure we knew this going in so it shouldn’t be a surprise now. I guess the hope was he would grow up and bring his a-game every night now that he’s not a punk kid anymore but alas…

He had such a good run b Wade he should know to go for the block

He’s played poorly tonight. Other nights he’s done ok. It seems as if he’s too slow to cover some power forwards and not strong enough to cover others. I wonder how strong he is in the weight room and what his reach is.

I'm sorry...

but I’m really starting to think everything starts with Baron. He is such a sub-par leader, and a lazy ass. Plays just like he’s entitled. Everything that’s bad about NBA right now. Mad skills, no drive, no loyalty, no respect for fans or teammates. Ick.

by The Only Team That Matters on Mar 10, 2010 6:38 PM PST up reply actions

I wouldn't pay baron 6.5 million.

yet Baron is the problem. baron has been setting guys up all game hell all year yet they can never finish

by KillaClip on Mar 10, 2010 6:41 PM PST up reply actions

I don't think so...

It’s a novelty when Baron sets teammates up. I almost always expect him to jack up a shot.

by The Only Team That Matters on Mar 10, 2010 6:42 PM PST up reply actions

uh, no

You make some good points about baron and his sometimesy play when I wanna play attitude but don’t get carried away here. He still makes quality passes and is like #7 or #8 in assists.

by Joe Wolf's Mullet on Mar 10, 2010 6:44 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

Every time Kaman misses a point blank lay up

It’s off of a pass by Baron. Most good nights Kaman has had is when Baron gets inside and forces the D away from Kaman.

He is supposed to be a "superstar" ,our leader.

9:21 LAC - Offensive foul on C. Smith

by LancasterGordon4Eva on Mar 10, 2010 6:47 PM PST up reply actions

Ditto about Kaman...

He should be a leader. But I really do hate how he’s been diva-like lately, too. It’s no longer numbskullery with him.

by The Only Team That Matters on Mar 10, 2010 6:47 PM PST up reply actions

Me too...

Let’s look at what I thought was his best game all season – that one where we routed the Lakers. That’s how he should play. He was spectacular, energetic, an assist machine. But how often does that happen? When he doesn’t bring that game face, everyone goes to shit. And yeah if that’s the case, he needs to bring it every game. Even if the rest of his personnel have a responsibility too. It starts with him.

by The Only Team That Matters on Mar 10, 2010 6:50 PM PST up reply actions

He's 8th in the league in assists what the hell more do you want

Tonight was another perfect example of how he would be much higher if the damn players would finish the plays. He has 7 tonight

by KillaClip on Mar 10, 2010 6:53 PM PST up reply actions

I would like to see....

Sool, Rhino, and Blake all return.

Add Kaman to the mix

In this game only the first three quarters of statistics should count. And, Kaman was 2 for 8, I think, entering the 4th.

by Mike Wr on Mar 10, 2010 6:49 PM PST up reply actions

Everyone was bad not named Butler or DJ

Baron had a solid game overall Kaman was brutal to watch espcially on the inside D against a sore back O’Neal

by KillaClip on Mar 10, 2010 6:50 PM PST up reply actions

Beg to differ.

Baron didn’t have a solid game. Very weak on defense and 2 for 8 from the field.

by Mike Wr on Mar 10, 2010 6:51 PM PST up reply actions

Killa

How did Baron have a “solid” game overall!?!?

5 points, 6 assits, and 2 rebounds are numbers any point guard in the NBA can put up.

No one said he was a susperstar

If your not named Lebron or Bryant you aren’’t a superstar anyway. However he didn’t have All-Star night he had a productive passing night and how did our this seaosn All-Star do?

by KillaClip on Mar 10, 2010 6:56 PM PST up reply actions

he didn’t shoot well but he didn’t force the issue he hustled on D even when he had to guard Wade

When I hear that I think of like 15 assists. Like Deron Williams and Derrick Rose did last night. Deron had 28 points and 17 assists. Rose had 25 points and 13 assists. Those are “solid games”!

screw lebron, we need an enforcer in the middle

So tired of watching everyone saunter in and get to the rim without so much as a tickle from anyone in red. Defense is a pride and effort thing though, and those might have left the building some time ago.

cant believe theres people on this board that actually defend Baron Davis…seriously???

by thegrifters on Mar 10, 2010 7:09 PM PST reply actions

it's one of those thing where if u complain too much, it diminishes the legitimate complaints

Is he bashworthy? Sure, but at least make it a legitimate criticism. The guy can be in the midst of a solid game but if he misses a layup, people come unglued and are all over him. When he is being a bum, sure, fire away. But some people cry about every imperfect moment. Same with kaman. Bash all you want, just have a legitimate complaint and don’t say silly crap like CUT HIM or TRADE HIM NOWWWWW or HE IS THE WORST PG EVER, etc.

by Joe Wolf's Mullet on Mar 10, 2010 7:20 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

Hmm

What sort of things could cause the players not to care anymore?

This is so difficult to figure out.

Coaches don't matter. - Bill Simmons, The Book of Basketball

by John R on Mar 10, 2010 8:02 PM PST reply actions

free throw disparity?

Only “saw” the ESPN gamecast so don’t know whether this was justified but we lost this game due to a huge free throw disparity. 33-13 if I recall correctly. Wade got more FTs than our whole team (17-13, I believe). We outscored Miami from the three point line, and from 2 as well, and held our own on the boards, but were outscored by 19 from the stripe.

I don’t like to bitch about the officiating (well, I do, but not when I didn’t see the game), but can that be justified?

by benoit benjamin's two left shoes on Mar 10, 2010 8:41 PM PST reply actions

miami took it to the hole with ease...if they didn't score, they were fouled basically

it was a completely reactionary game from the clips and they didn’t take it to the hole with any conviction. i watched the whole sorry game and never felt we were getting robbed or anything. clips just weren’t aggressive enough to put themselves in the position to get calls.

by Joe Wolf's Mullet on Mar 10, 2010 11:08 PM PST up reply actions
