Man
Who else thinks this is a completely disrespectful shot at the Clippers?
In the last decade, they have made moves toward respectiblity
The practice facility, hiring a “big name” coach MDsr, signing some big name free agents, (Cat, Baron). The article was a bit harsh…but whatever.
This is going to be my team, and we're going to rise together.

The front office has been trying to win for a while
This guy said that the team will never win anything ever because he thinks they are owned by a racist. I have a problem with that.
Being owned by a racist won't hurt the team
Most of the owners are very old white guys and many probably are pretty racist themselves (obviously this doesn’t include the newer owners MJ, Cuban). Players don’t pay attention to ownership, they care much more about the coach and the players around him. The only slight affect might be on the coaching staff but coaches will ignore the owner as long as he puts out money and builds a good team.
LeBron or Bust !!!!
The owners might not be all that diverse
but their hiring practices have been exemplary. They have a more diversity amongst their coaches than any other of the big 4 sport leagues. Off the top of my head I can name Alvin Gentry, Doc Rivers, Mike Woodson, Mike Brown and Nate McMillan as head coaches and there have been many others that were fired in recent years (Avery Johnson, Michael Curry, Isiah Thomas, Mo Cheeks). There’s nowhere near that diversity in the NFL (where they even had to create the Rooney rule to get the ball rolling) even though the NFL has pretty similar demographics to the NBA.

I don't get this argument.
The entire Leage is run in a very racist manner. I won’t even get into the racial politics of American major league sports, but to single Sterling out as the worst owner in all of pro-sports is severely short-sighted.
I am in NO WAY defending Donald Sterling, but to say he’s the only racist owner in the NBA, nay all pro-sports, is a load of bullsh!t.

In what way is the league racist?
I’m curious, I actually think the NBA has done the best job by far of promoting diversity. There have been numerous minority head coaches and there are starting to be more and more minorities in the front offices.

What has Donald Sterling--- as an basketball owner--- done wrong since 05-06?
I say nothing. I know that people always bring up DTS and his real estate deals but, how does that make him a bad BASKETBALL owner, It doesn’t. In recent years, he has spent money on FA, gave MDSr. a contract—- that he deserved after the success, built a training center, allowed for trades [that made the team better (financial or otherwise)], and has publicly said that he wants to win now— and is willing to pay for it.
It is funny how winning seems to over shadow the short comings of athletes and their owners with respect to their personal lives. Jerry Buss sleeps with young girls (good for him) but still a little gross, Jerry Buss drove drunk and got a DUI, Jerry Buss is a gamble aholic, but he wins. Kobe is over looked because he make shots at the end of games, however, he probably forced himself on a little white girl in Denver and got away with it. The fact does remain that he cheats and is an adulter—- but he makes shots.
The bottom line is nobody is perfect and without their own faults. I think DTS is not as racist as he is made out to be. The last case against him was settled out of court by the insurance company—- that was not the choice of DTS. He bought a basketball team and the last time I checked—- even during the time of purchase—- the players are mostly black. He kept an incompetent and horrible GM in Elgin Baylor for all those years and after he is fired, Elgin decides to make a big deal out of it. BS! Sterling did him a favor keeping him on that long. The hundreds of thousands of dollars he received—- with Elgin’s track record—- was way too much to pay.
The next 6 months are going to really determine the true colors of this franchise. They have NEVER been in a situation, this promising before. If they go the cheap route and sign sub par players, hire a cheap inexperienced coach, and make no effort to WIN NOW, then I will join the I hate DTS band wagon. Then, at that time, people can talk all the trash they want about DTS because he is a bad BASKETBALL owner. Until then
GO CLIPS!
Good points

+1
if the clippers were winning nobody would be talking about DTS, he is definitely not a nice guy but to say he hurts the franchise or that he is a monster of some sort is ridiculous.
