DTS is not losing money with firing M. Dunleavy!

With the team being under the salary cap this season they get a tax break or cut...of 4.5 or 5 mil which should cover the cost of firing Dunleavy...he made Dumleavy make those moves so he could make extra money off the NBA...CBA.

For years now the DTS has made a profit off the Clippers while only making the playoffs twice in its existance...he has manage to keep the clips in the basement while holding on to a franchise that was worth about 80 mill when he first got it to now it being worth about 200 to 400 million...the clippers maybe the laughing stock of the NBA...but DTS is laughing all the way to the bank...at this rate who needs a winning team when the next 10 yrs the franchise will be worth double...wow!

Not sure what your point is...

The Clippers are always below the luxury tax and always get the tax distribution – this year is no different. Also, the trade deadline moves had little bearing on this season’s salary – it was getting Telfair off of next season’s books that mattered.

Who cares?

So DTS needs to lose money to make it a valid move? I liked MDSr. as a GM but, DTS is still a business person, what is wrong with that?

The rich get richer i guess....

DTS is a durrrty motha, from a business perspective props to him but from a basketball point of view he’s a durtty motha……=(

It is said...

that behind every fortune there is a great crime. I wouldn’t lump Bill Gates together with DTS though, being involved in some IP anti-trust suits is a lot different than denying people a necessity like housing.

Not to defend DTS but

He wasn’t denying a necessity; rather he was prohibiting people of races he didn’t like or thought would create business problems the opportunity to live in luxury apartments. Luxury apartments are hardly a necessity.

Luxury apartments?

The ones in Koreatown? Serious? The rationale was he rented in favor of Koreans who he perceived as being people who don’t complain. These were regular units at best in a neighborhood that has one of the higher crime rates in the city. It’s also one of the more affordable areas in the city.

I work in Wilshire Center, just a half-mile east of Sterling’s Koreatown apartments. I’m not entirely sure how much his apartments are rented or leased for, but in comparison to the rest of the neighborhood, they have to be pretty overpriced anyway. They’ve built new condos at the Red/Purple Line subway stations at both Western and Vermont Avenues, along Wilshire…those are truly overpriced for sure (for example, a studio apartment costs about $1700 a month). The older apartment houses along the Wilshire Corridor (at least from MacArthur Park westward to eastern end of Miracle Mile) cost a very small fraction than what these new condos at the subways are presently.

DTS needs to step up

DTS needs to step up and go over the luxury tax and get some real talent! He needs
to spend big $ to get a quality coach also. All his negative past deeds would be
forgoten if he fielded a winning team. Not say he wants to win, but really put his
$ where his mouth is. He does not have long to live, why not spend big and try to win before he dies? He needs to forget about making a profit and only try to win.
