Blake Griffin on clearance?

Like some of you, I received an email from TeamLAStore for the Clippers St. Patty's Day sale.  After clicking this link and navigating to 'On Clearance', I saw a bunch of Blake Griffin items on clearance.  Does this have any deeper significance? My immediate thought was that Griffin is leaving the team, but I honestly don't know.

Do any other citizens have ideas as to the significance of clearing out Griffin apparel?

Why the change?

Could it mean we are bringing in someone else with #32?

I doubt it..

We probably would’ve heard about it by now, because I think he would’ve had to file for it a couple weeks ago to meet the deadline..

I just bought a new Griffin swingman jersey, so I hope he doesn’t change it! LOL

Honestly

I just think they haven’t sold that much of the inventory. Imagine how many jerseys the must have made in anticipation of him being the biggest thing in the NBA this year. And then he doesn’t play. Of course everyone outside of the clips will be thinking twice about buying.

Relax...

It just means they have more inventory than they want to carry over the off-season. It wouldn’t be surprising if they sold fewer jerseys than they thought they might for a first overall pick who missed the entire season.

Don’t forget either that BG was 23 in college, and couldn’t wear it hear because of Camby. So maybe he’ll change or maybe he won’t. But don’t read to much into this.

You also have to ask the league to make a number switch

From what I heard (my ticket rep) Baron asked to switch his number to 5 after Cutino left last year and is still waiting to hear back (odd that it’d take over a season). Also, from what I know, rookies have to keep their numbers for a certain number of years.

I believe you have to file the previous season (like James & Arenas have done).

I think a player has to be in the league for 4 years to petition for a number change that didn’t result from a trade. Baron had Cat Mobley to deal with and now it is Smith. Hopefully Baron will have number 5 again in another city.

+1 for that last line.

Clipper gear is ALWAYS going on clearance.

I bet Blake’s was the last to get the clearance nod because of his status amongst fans.

Don’t read into it lol

Is it really?

Is there a lot of stuff left over? i need a white jersey still.

by EJay on Mar 12, 2010 12:30 PM PST up reply actions

Yah buddy

Last home game there was a handful of jerseys left. Replicas and authentics.

by yaggiefresh on Mar 12, 2010 1:34 PM PST up reply actions

for Camby?

just kidding

Would Gordon have first dibs on that number since he wrote it in college too? and came before Griffin

by KidJustin on Mar 15, 2010 1:11 PM PDT up reply actions

I Think What This Really Means

is that they need to make room for the LeBron James jerseys coming in. I have a feeling that would be in hot demand and they need to make as much room as possible to stock in. Just a hunch.

This post gets my vote for Most Paranoid Fanpost of 2010...so far..

Are you kidding me??? Griffin ain’t going nowhere and he ain’t certainly switching numbers. Look, he lost the season, and the Clippers lost also in merchandise because of this. They wanna sell his stuff, so the best way to sell it as of now is on the cheap, hence the clearance. I hate when someone has to read all up into something as casual and meaningless as this. IT’S. JUST. A. FRIGGIN’. SALE!!!!!

Yikes

I bought a Griffin jersey the game he got hurt. I bought it at halftime and about 15 minutes later he grabbed his knee. haven’t worn the jersey since… too painful. On a side note I won a free one from the Clippers that I still need to pick up.

Should have bought

Blake Griffin Kneepads….if only they sold some at Team LA

by KidJustin on Mar 15, 2010 1:17 PM PDT up reply actions

and yes,

we need to make room for LeBron’s stuff AND for…..wait…….wait……….wait…………..Shaq. Yes, LeBron is bringing Shaq with him. Shaq on the cheap!!! Just the way Sterling wants him. Please tell me that wouldn’t be PERFECT!!!!!!!!! Bring Matt Barnes along with them 2 and we could have a Clippers Diaper In The Lakers Faces Night!

I bought an Al Thorton Jersey T Shirt for only $2.50 at the the game…it was so ridicious!

by Fan of the Game on Mar 12, 2010 4:35 PM PST reply actions

Maybe this explains why...

I still see people wearing FElton memorabilita to the games, they must have gotten it dirt cheap.

time to get a new uniform

they need to switch up the jerseys and logo, its a new era of bball and hopefully this is a sign of switching jerseys

by ImranQ on Mar 12, 2010 8:03 PM PST reply actions

no more likely they are just selling their remaining stock

I don’t see us changing uniforms unless LeBron signs then we give him a paper and crayons and say “you make the new uniform”

LeBron or Bust !!!!

The jersey will read across the chest:

L.A. Bron’s
then in small print “the team formerly known as the LA Clippers”

It will be a mix of colors LeBred, King-Royal Blue, and White
