Higher Quality Assists...Baron on top
I originally saw this on TrueHoop. Tom Haberstroh breaks down what makes a high quality assist and puts together a listing of PGs who give the most highly impactful assists. Who's at the top of the list? Baron Davis.
Something to consider for all the critics who always cry about Baron not passing enough.

if only the Clippers actually made shots

I'm not sure what to make of it...
First of all, if people don’t think Baron is a great passer, they’re not paying attention. I actually have visions of Baron becoming a Jason Kidd type point as he gets older, though that may be wishful thinking. Nonetheless, he is a preternatural passer, with terrific court vision.
The idea of giving more value to close in assists because they have more impact is interesting, but you could actually make the opposite argument much more easily. That is, that an assist to a three pointer should be worth more because, guess what, three is bigger than two.
In this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. - Elwood P. Dowd
Agreed - hard to figure out what it means
"[Fans are] not technically a lot of times savvy. They don't understand and they don't weigh issues the way that [I] weigh them."
Mike Dunleavy, Sr.
True that
My hope is that when Baron gets older and starts to realize that he’s no longer one of the quickest guys on the court, he’ll start using his exceptional passing skill to create for others at the same rate that Jason Kidd has been doing it this season. (If I’m not mistaken, he’s the one that has that ridiculously high assist percentage, right?)
Baron’s got some of the most incredible instincts I’ve ever seen!
What it means is
Baron gets others very easy looks. He would get more than 10apg if we had more players that could make easy layups, or even better players who could finish above the rim (damn it I hate thinking about Blake Griffin and what he could add to our team)
