Clippers D - Did Not Play (Coach's Decision)
Has Kim Hughes already worn out on anybody else, other than me? What is this guy preaching to these players? It sure isn't defense. Oh, and fouling doesn't count as defense, by the way. The refs were whistle happy, as well, but that's just preferential treatment. When it comes to the Clippers, home court goes out the window.
I saw way too many easy baskets allowed by the Clippers. Forget the offense, the Clippers must emphasize in defense, defense, defense. And I'm sorry, hate to say this, but Deandre Jordan is proving to be a stiff. Right now I'll go as far as saying that Deandre is looking a lot like a poor man's Kwame Brown (if there is suc a pathetic thing).
Baron and Blake were both mediocre, also.
Damn...and I thought that that win over the Jazz on Monday meant that they figured things out once again, but hell no.
The defense is the clear, obvious problem. Kim Hughes is NOT the right coach for this team, or for any other team, for that matter. Dunleavy must put friendship aside here and can his buddy.

The Suns offense makes everyones D look bad
Guarding Amare is a tough task, and because DJ didnt do a superb job he is now worse than Kwame? Thats laughable. And Kim Hughes is an interim coach, no point in firing him this season
All your points are valid, but
the Suns are very vulnerable on the road (17-17). The Clippers failed in trying to play the Suns style of play, all O and no D, except the Clippers don’t have the firepower that the Suns have.
I’m not calling for Kim Hughes to get fired, but to set him free after the season ends. The whole coaching staff, out.
As for DJ, I said that more out of frustration. He’s a big guy, it’s not just Amare, it’s every other PF or C doing the same thing to the Clippers bigs all the time.

DJ = Kwame? No way...
Kwame can’t jump out of a sandbox.
DJ frequently posterizes people of all shapes and sizes.
Kwame has absolutely no idea how to move without (or with) the ball.
DJ is always looking for the backdoor alley-oop.
Kwame should probably never touch the ball on offense.
DJ at least provides a legitimate threat when he’s directly under the hoop.
Kwame’s fat now.
DJ’s not fat yet.
Kwame was a former Laker.
DJ actually has a soul.
See? Totally different.
I made the last-minute, spur-of-the-moment (and now regrettable) trek to Staples Center after work last night, hoping to see a fun and competitive game. Well, at least the first half was fun…the second half, I don’t know what the hell that was. The Clips’ defense was absolutely atrocious all game, but at least in the first 31 minutes, they played well enough to overcome the Suns’ hot shooting. I mean, I know that Amar’e is a great player, but he got ANY shot he wanted; the Clips made it way too easy for him. Add to the fact that Grant Hill (the oldest player in building, on either roster) was out-hustling everyone in his path, and scrubs like Jared Dudley and Channing Frye having a field night on the 3-point line. Not to mention that Steve Nash only finished with two points, an atypical game for #13…or else at would have been a 35-point blowout.
I’ve been going to Clippers’ home games for years, and I’ve usually stayed to the end, win or lose…but I left in the middle of 4th quarter, something I’ve never done. That’s how disgusted I felt afterward. Of course I recognize that the Suns are a damn good basketball team, and even so, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Clips lost to them anyway. However, this Clippers needs to show more pride and passion, and don’t let any opposition come into their house and embarrass them like last night. We’ve seen too many embarrassing home losses just in the last three years, and it’s beyond frustrating to witness time and time again how soft and unfocused the Clippers play against opposition.
DJ does have something Kwame never had or will ever have:
Belief.
I give him that. And hope he makes me look like shit for calling him a stiff.
Hey, Barkley has called Yao Ming a stiff before…

Actually
DJ and Kwame has different status. DJ, 2nd round pick. #8 Center in the nation coming out of HS.
Kwame Brown, #1 pick. #1 pick of the whole friggin 2001 NBA draft.
Whether or not DJ averages 3 points for the rest of his life, I wouldn’t call the kid a bust. I mean as a 2nd round pick, I think DJ is worth that gamble.
yeah if DJ has any production at all in his career
it would be more then most expected.
LeBron or Bust !!!!
okay that sounded a little harsh
but still there is very little expected from DJ. Which is the opposite of Kwame.
LeBron or Bust !!!!
Actually
We all know where he’s at but we also know what he can be.
I’m just not sure when can he finally average 10 points a game effectivly and consistantly. ..
But I have faith!
