Brian Shaw for Coach

I think Shaw would be a great candidate to be the new Clips Coach. He has studied under Phil Jackson for several years and is ready to be an NBA coach. He seemed to have a good blend of toughness and likeability.

I love the fact he comes from a winning tradition and has won multiple championships as both a player and a coach. It can never hurt to have guys who are winners as part of your franchise.

Rather than hiring another retread who has never won anything, lets get a fresh voice who will work well with our young players.

Finally he played his college ball at my alma mater UCSB.. so he's got that going for him.

He is. And he will be the Lakers coach within two years. If Phil doesn’t return for the $5 million that Jerry Buss wants him to take rather than the $12 million that he’s currently making, then Brian Shaw will be the coach. The Lakers have said they feel a lockout is going to happen and thus they don’t want to overpay for players (or coaches) at this moment in time. Who knows, though?

Phil is coming back…. Buss is gonna try his best to get Phil to get a little less since he is all but gonna marry into the Buss family fortune, but it will be interesting to see if the situation becomes messy which im sure 98% of non-laker fans want it to become

There’s actually an established rumor, which isn’t a rumor if it’s true, that there’s some infidelity from one side of the Phil/Jeanie partnership.

It’s not anything you can find through a link. It’s something that came down through the grapevine.

As a Laker fan, we currently have Brian Shaw and Byron Scott waiting in the wings to be the heir to the Lakeshow coaching job.

Go Gauchos!

and yea I think Shaw and Scott are both waiting to see what Phil does. Supposedly he’ll make his decision on the 27th and if he does leave I’m guessing they hire Scott since he has a strong relationship with Kobe already (he was Kobe’s mentor early on in his career). In that scenario Shaw would probably take a head coaching job across the hall rather than stay on as a assistant to the guy who beat him out for the job.

No Shaw, No Marc Jackson

Lets face it…has there been any successful head coaches who worked under Phil?? If there are i cant remember..I can remember Hamblen , Cleamons and Rambis all with not much success. Phil has the triangle offense down and seems to be the only one to teach it. Shaw is really green… and I want the Clippers to start winning NOW….not after Shaw gets the hang of it. An established coach is definitely whats needed for the young Clippers…they have absolutely zero leadership on that team. Memphis is going through major baby steps there with Rambis…we need better than that here…especially with all the good coaches available. Mike Woodson, Mike James, Byron Scott, Van Gundy, etc. I`d take anyone of these guys before Shaw..they can assemble a trusted staff quickly and be off and running.

Erm...

Well Van Gundy has already said he’s not interested in coaching right now. Byron Scott is going to the Cavs or maybe the Lakers. I assume you mean Mike Brown (Mike James is a player… active one still I think) and Mike Woodson are both options, I think Mike Woodson is our best option, he’s coached a successful team, he’s a former Clipper, he has worked with coaches like Larry Brown and Bob Knight and he has worked under unusual circumstances and ownership problems as well with the Atlanta Hawks. He has also helped develop a bad team and young players (Josh Smith and Al Horford in particular) into a good team.

He is a definite brian...

but I’m not sure he has enough skinner in him for my tastes. Pass.

Yay yay.
