Chicago is certainly doing whatever it can to position itself. If this goes through.

It only increases it to $30 million in cap space. That’s not enough for 2 max contracts. It might be enough for Joe Johnson and Chris Bosh, though.

I think this is how it plays out

they can do a sign and trade with the Cavs sending Luol Deng. Now they have enough cap room to sign Bosh to a max deal (or another sign and trade where they send James Johnson or Taj Gibson). The Bulls were already the prohibitive favorites to get Lebron… they just doubled their odds today : (

What do they send to Cleveland, though? Deng, Gibson, Johnson, and a two first round picks?

They don't need to send much

They say Lebron is leaving, you can either take Deng or we just sign him outright. Maybe throw in a future 1st round pick or a prospect like Johnson (they should try to keep Gibson no matter what).

Very true. They were the smartest with this strategy. By freeing up cap space late, after building up all the hype, they’ve really set the tone for free agency.

New York is so screwed.

You have to give it CHI trying to make 2 max slots but still having SOLID pieces at the 1 and 5. All New York has ever had is 2 max slots and the prospect of the city itself. This is why I don’t get fans dont openly rebel against Donnie Walsh.

Fuck, wasn’t six championships enough?!

Its been 12 years

and they went through some incredibly bad years post MJ. I’ll admit, a Bulls-Lakers Finals sounds very entertaining.

I'm not sold on him to the Bulls.

You really think LeBron’s going to want to be yelled at to play tighter defense all game, every game?

He had firsthand experience

on how effective it was. He wants to win titles, the Bulls now offer him the best overall situation.

It sounds like

Deng to Orlando for Gortat and Pietrus still might happen.

The Bulls are doing great today.

Link?

Why would the Magic do this to themselves…. sounds like they just help a potential rival

Ariza insurance

They wouldn’t pass on Wall, but there were rumors (weren’t there?) that they might be able to move Ariza, although I don’t know who would take his contract. Seems impossible, but Hinrich gives them depth and versatility alongside Wall. Versatile player, good defender, just overpaid.

That is silly to pay a back up 9,000,000 per

The people in DC dont know what they’re doing! ; )

Hinrich is a good mentor

John Wall looks like a Derrick Rose clone. We know Hinrich is a professional and also took the demotion from starter in stride. He can also back up both guard spots and he has some trade value (maybe flip to Lakers for Sasha expiring contract)

Isn't Ariza in Houston? I'm sure that you mean Arenas.
