This game (TrueHoop vs. SBNation Bloggers) was played during the second weekend of NBA Summer League 2010. Clipper Steve takes everyone to school on how to take a charge. He wasn't afraid of getting hit by all 147 pounds of me. Maybe I'll get him back at the rematch game next year =P

My friend Robby lives in Detroit and has an overdeveloped sense of irony. I figured in a blogger hoops game, irony was the way to go.

I am just so proud.
Amazing that I just happened to mosey over to the StevieB- B-Free blogland tonight of all nights. Nice. Just nice.
My specialty
One of the reasons that I’m not a particularly good playground baller (there are many, many reasons in fact) is that I’ve always been really good at drawing charges – which isn’t such a good technique on the playground. OK, it’s totally useless since no one in the right mind is going to try to argue charge/block on the playground – literally doesn’t exist. But with refs around, I’ll step in every time. Basically, I’m really good at falling down.
I want to point out that I never flop. I always take the contact.

That must have been funny
Did everyone run the guy off the court?

I think everyone started laughing
including the people sitting around waiting.
Then he got embarrassed and just shut up.
Well...
Frankly, I’d seen enough turnovers in that game that I had an inkling of what might happen. Suffice it to say, if my team didn’t get the ball in my hands, it was going to be a shot or a turnover pretty quickly. That, and I’m 47 and out of shape.

Great, our beloved blogger plays like Derek Fisher....
The Darko-jersey just barely makes up for it.
Hey...
I’m only 47. I’m much younger than Fisher.

where's the Kevin Arnovitz breakdown of this play!?

Clipper Steve Is The Man
I will always play for/with Clipper Steve. He plays the game the right way.
Speaking of which...years ago at a park in Newport Beach
I was playing some pick up games and this guy busts out three red, white and blue basketballs and starts doing all these tricks on the sideline and stuff…the dude was a globetrotter!
We ask if he wants in next or whatever – he declines saying that he’s just practicing. Haha, or just showing off? It was pretty distracting trying to play while someone’s doing crazy ball spinning tricks in your periphery vision.
NOT!

It's a part of the game, so why not use it?

the caoach in me thinks...
as your team pg, you should have asked for the ball and walked across half court Sam-i-am style or at least run back on offense??? j/k

believe me
If the game had been closer, I would have begun insisting that they let me bring the ball up. But we had a double digit lead most of the time… no reason to work too hard.
