With the pieces of free agency beginning to fall into place, it seems now that teams will truly shift their focus into support-cast players. This means teams like Miami offering Mike Miller the idea of winning a ring...
In other words, the Clippers will once again be forced to either overpay for a free agent, or wait it out and pick through the leftovers... (This of course assumes that L.James doesn't sign with the Clippers) If New York cannot get itself another "star player", nor New Jersey, or Chicago, look for all these teams with considerable cap space to start looking to add "role" players. In an off-season that has already shown to be the last stand of overpriced contracts before a new CBA, the money the Clippers have left with either be used to resign smaller role players like Craig Smith, or be spent mostly for one contract, like $10 million a year for for 4 years for Mike Miller, that leaves us just enough money to round off a bench/team. I guess we shouldn't be laughing at the Grizzles or Hawks as much anymore... not if we want to sign anyone mentionable ourselves...
