Why does everyone on this site constantly slurp Blake Griffin?
Seriously, it needs to stop.
This guy has more season ending surgeries than points scored in his NBA career. There is no guarantee
these won't be reoccurring injuries, either.
It's just silly that everyone wants to anoint him as a superstar before he's even played a game. What if he turns out like Joe Smith? Or, God forbid, Michael Olowokandi.
Griffin is the savior? Really? Already?!
As a longtime Clippers fan, I hope the guy has a great career, and goes on to numerous All-Star games. But as a longtime Clippers fan, I know it's best to remain cautiously optimistic.

Go away
don’t be such a killjoy. Don’t you have to go tell some kids Santa isn’t real, the Easter Bunny isn’t real and they are adopted?
FA in 2010.
I agree with Clipperchuck
This is a new breed of Clipper basketball. We are starting from scratch.
New coach in VDN, new people in the front office, new logo, new jerseys (or so I have heard), many new additions, and a new attitude.
All the injuries and bad moves are in the past. We are looking towwards the future.
Like VDN said, “we are looking out the windshield and not in the rear view mirror.”
i would agree we would be starting from scratch if
we had signed Aaron Nelson, but the Clippers training staff is, quite frankly, sub-standard as evidenced by the continual injuries that our players suffer.
What's the point of this post?
Is there a #1 overall pick who dominated college who hasn’t been hyped?
I'm not sure he dominated college.
It was a pretty weak draft.
That’s all moot though.
I just don’t think there should be this kind of pressure on a kid to be the “savior”. At least let him have a few weeks of actual playing time before we deem him anything.
I've got nothing.
Not sure he dominated?
Guy had more rebounds than anyone in 30 years, he scored 22.5 points per game while shooting over 65%. Took his team all the way to the Final Four where they lost the the eventual National Champs. That’s pretty good.
FA in 2010.
Yes, yes Chuck....
And Sam Bowie, Christian Laettner, Joe Smith & Tyler Hansbrough we’re all either National Players of the year and/or led their teams deep into the NCAA tourney.
So what does that mean?
I think the post is an excellent question written by a Clipper fan who (along with me) doesn’t understand what all the “sack washing” for Blake Griffin is all about. People are using stats from college and a “dominant” SUMMER LEAGUE showing to anoint this guy as the team’s savior?
Puh-leeze.
It’s interesting how there’s so much talk about the “talent” we have on this team and how if LeBron wanted to win he should come here because we’re “loaded”, yet because an unproven rookie went down before he even played a game, the rest of our “talent” folded like a lawn chair and got thumped for another season.

Ok then
what about the fact he averaged 15 points, 9 rebounds while shooting 60% during pre-season? Or the fact a bunch of the players themselves say he’s the real deal (Marcus Camby called him amazing). The guy can ball, there is no doubt.
FA in 2010.
Chuck. Come on.
We’re talking about the pre-season.
Someone already wrote on here about how bad Favors and Turner have been playing so far. Do you think anyone thinks their performance in the pre-season means anything when it comes to actual real time games?
Because if that’s the case maybe their new pro teams will try to trade those 2 albatrosses now before they stink up the regular season!

summer league vs. pre-season is a bit of a difference.
Can’t compare Favors & Turner, unless you wanted to say that Blake excelled at both when they couldn’t.
No, it's all the same.
It doesn’t matter.
Players find out whether they can play or not when they have to match up with real NBA players in real, game-time situations.

Well...
DJ Mbenga believes in Blake Griffin.

So does Andrew Bynum…
FA in 2010.
That was a different time
and Griffin is already completely healed. If you do some research on the injury, you may find that it does not reoccur.
So I guess in "this time" no one ever has recurring injuries?
Hooray for modern science!
Have they fixed that “cancer” problem too?

I'm saying surgical techniques for fractures have improved
Which is an obvious fact. No one mentioned cancer. That’s completely irrelevant.
+1

I dont know if this means much but
have you been watching any of the Orlando summer league? Derrick Favors and Evan Turner have been stinkin it up! Blake was a man among boys at last years summer league. I know there will be the ones to discredit Blake’s performance but I dont want to hear it.
I want to see the guys succeed as much as anyone.
I’m just not comfortable with everyone thinking he’s going to lead us to the promised land.
I hope to my Lord and Blake Griffin I’m wrong.
I've got nothing.
Because he is fucking amazing...
it does not take a trained eye to see he has phenomenal skills. Along with his skill set, he is a tireless worker, hustles every play, and wants to learn. That is what makes him different that Kandy man and Smith! Trust me—- this guy, if healthy, will be the second coming.
the guy had 30 double doubles in college
Do you know who the other two guys are that completed that feat? The likes of David Robinson and Jerry West.
Even the Clippers, those longtime losers, thought they could be a player this summer.
I sort of agree with you
I understand where your coming from sense he has not played a game yet. But he looks good and he’s summer league stats as a rookie were second to none. And as a fan you want to think your #1 pick is going to be the savior and i think he will be.
What does bc56274 stand fof?
Bull crap on posting something negative about our franchise player. What did you expect
that the citizen of clipper nation weren’t going to let you have it!
You're right, bc56274
BG projects to be an outstanding pro. The key word is projects. Until he plays, we just flat don’t know how good he will be and that’s the point. You’re not designated the franchise until you show the kind of play to earn the designation.
