On a Sunday?
I feel terribly sorry for you. Must be a total drag to have classes on a Sunday. I have them Fridays and I hate it.

It's shocking,
ESPN actually believes the world championship finals are important enough to show on their main channel! WOAH!

Anyone watching titans and raiders to pass the time?
Jason Campbell has great potential. If only his linemen can protect him haha

EJ due for another breakout game?
His scoring has been way down the past couple of games although he’s stayed active on defense. I wouldn’t mind seeing him as the second or third leading scorer again for Team USA.
or if he scored 40 on 8-8 three's with 2 blocks, 3 steals, 8 assists, 5 boards
just sayin’
BG, EJ, BD LETS GO CLIPPERS!!!
this post made me wish sbnation had a'like' button, like the facebook one

I wanna see EJ get in on that action too.
Driving and getting to the line (and some and 1’s) is just as big for his game as his shooting. He really hasnt shown that in FIBA.
I think they asked him not to do that.
They got a few players who can do that whilst not many shoot better then EJ.

He had a baseline drive earlier that was blocked.
He’s 0 for 3 right now.
Chauncy Billups is on some Baron Davis level chucking

Yeah, Completely agree
That one sequence was incredible, I’m hoping that I can find a video of it somewhere so I can watch him destroy that guy for like 10 seconds again.

The 0-5 is ugly, but...
1R/2A/1S/1B is really pretty.

Good job EJ
not his best shooting but his D was tremendous.

Doesn't matter
he went from probably not going to make the team, to having compete with RWestbrook and Stephon Curry for the final spot, to one of the top scorers on the team, to a FIBA championship. In any retrospect you put it, it was a success for not only TEAM USA, but Gordon. I don’t see much improvement from FIBA and NBA, but these FIBA games have given Gordon some recognition that he deserves.

yea, I think he surpassed anyone's expectations
and we can’t ask for much more than that. I think there were a lot of people thinking he’d be one of the first cuts, and even confused why he made it over Mayo. It was a great tournament for EJ, and I couldn’t be happier for him to win the gold.
I don’t think the average fan was really following the WBC, so hard to say how much more recognition EJ will get. I think he’ll need to take the clippers to the playoffs before the average fan recognizes him as an ‘above average’ SG in this league. Until then, I’m guessing a general poll of fans would take the likes of OJ, JR Smith, Derozan ahead of EJ.
I agree and disagree on a few things
and want to add onto a few things.
At one point, I don’t agree that he has exceeded anyone’s expectations. From the small rerun portions of what I’ve seen on FSN, EJ did exactly as he did in a Clippers jersey. If he’s shooting at a higher percentage, it’s because the 3pt line is moved closer. This isn’t a knack to Eric Gordon and saying he didn’t do well. I’m just saying he did exactly as he has done in FIBA and NBA. You give him the minutes and give him space, the man can play D and shoot lights. To a regular Clipper fan who has watched Gordon on a consistant basis, it’s no surprise that Gordon did well in FIBA. In a way, he was the guy who can hit shots without being the first, second, or third option on the team.
I don’t know why Coach K chose Gordon over Mayo. Nobody here really knows. We can make the assumptions, but only Coach K and the coaching staff knows. At one point, there’s the belief that Team USA has many dynamic-needs the ball in their hands to score-type players, and so he chose Gordon over Mayo because Gordon doesn’t need the ball to score. Then there’s some who believe that Gordon is better than Mayo. Some said defense. Some said better shooter. We just don’t know.
As for what the general NBA fan would say, they’d probably say Mayo > Gordon, and Smith > Gordon. The average fans tend to focus alot on scoring, without looking at how effective they score, and without the other added bonuses. To me Mayo and Gordon are two different players. One is flashy, the other does does things to score. One makes the highlight films on ESPN more often and the other his hidden to the “ugly step-sister team.” Same goes for JR Smith.
As for Derozan, I just don’t see him being ahead of EJ to any regular NBA fan. I’ve noticed alot of fans like to focus on points (as I’ve said earlier) so if they compare 17 to 9, I think they’d easily give EJ the advantage. Just my 2 cents of course.

*But of course
when I say “I don’t think he exceeded anyone’s expectations”, this is more from a Clippers community standpoint.
Of course he surprised everybody else that isn’t a Clipper fan.
"Things change when something is taken away from you" -BG32
yea, I don't really know what my 'expectations' of EJ were
While his actual statistical performance isn’t too surprising, just the fact that he was able to distinguish himself and do it among a team of ball hungry, guard heavy, former or boarderline all-star players. I was more doubtful that he would have the attitude to try and showoff his skills, but it probably turns out that this attitude was exactly made him a perfect fit for team USA.
as far as the list of other SGs, it was just a quick list of young, mid-level, type of SGs. I’m curious how the average fan would vote between DeRozan and Gordon. Just seems like some people would want derozan’s height, athleticism, and potential. Maybe just the fact that the ‘Dunk-in’ felt like a popularity contest to me, and we all know who won that, haha.
congrats to EJ, team USA
looking forward to seeing BGriff turn into a super star and seeing EJ, BGriff, Durant, Westbrook and co. in 2012 reppin the US in London!
