Around SBN: Yankees Deny Rumors That Team Is For Sale

I know more than one Citizen - myself included - had entertained the idea of signing alleged lottery bust Joe Alexander during this offseason and giving him a chance. I also know that a number of other Citizens were understandably dubious of Alexander's abilities.

Here's a little article on Alexander retooling his game and lighting up the D-League. A young, hard-working, high-upside guy who can iso and create buckets off the bench could prove useful for our team, and we have the flexibility to make it happen. He might be more worthy of a roster spot than, say, a Rasual Butler racking up DNP-CD's.

What do you think, fellow Citizens?

Next time a wing gets dinged up

they should give Alexander (or someone else) a 10 day contract.

Alexander has a interesting background, he can speak fluent mandarin as he spent much of his childhood in Taiwan.

Given his leaping ability

He would fit right in with our new title up there.

One problem

The whole point of the article is that Alexander was being misutilized as a wing in Milwaukee and that he’s really a four. So he’s a nice fit from an age and athleticism standpoint, but he doesn’t fill a current need.

True, but...

…it might be worth looking into him as our bench 4-man of the future, since we don’t have Diogu or Smith signed on past this season. Put Alexander at the end of our bench and let him get a head start on learning the system and building chemistry for next season.

ni hao. ta da lanqiu bu hao.

I couldn’t type the Chinese characters so I wrote it in it’s romanized form. Pinyin.
I saw him play in one of the recent D-league games and he has bulked up a lot. I figured to give him a shot before but we have Diogu now. He’s like a 4 with some range.

i say why the heck not

it’s better than having one half of the collins twins. i feel like getting a former lottery pick who has great work ethic and athleticism for a cheap price is a no lose situation.
