Once more the weakness of the Clippers team has been exposed in their small forward position which with a combined playing time of 44 minutes between Gomes and Aminu produced 9 pts, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Againts a good defensive team like the Blazers (Clips limited to 43% FG), a consistent scoring SF would definitely help ease the defense. Unfortunately for the Clippers, the best that their starting SF could do was 2 pts in 34 minutes! This afforded Portland's defense another man to double up on Griffin (they could care less in guarding Gomes who took 5 shots making 1).
With February coming, the Clipper's road games will be much tougher than this game having to face the likes of Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, New York, OKC and New Orleans all of which are hard to beat at their own home courts. If the Clippers wants to win some games and be more competitive, they will have to have a more decent SF than Gomes (who BTW always plays hard but could not score consistently). Otherwise loses like this one will be immenent,
