Around SBN: Why Hockey Fans Should Root For Devils Vs. Kings

Ralph Lawler The ankle sprain caused the bone Bruise and that bruise on a weight-bearing part of the bone is what is making this take so long. The hope is still to get him back on the court in February.

It did look ugly, back whenever that was

Is there a reason Kaman’s situation couldn’t have been communicated a little sooner? Irritating the fan base is a lose-lose, plain and simple.

"weight-bearing"

How about we just stop walking on the damn thing, and only use the anti-grav treadmill??

Has anyone seen Kaman's twitter?

On it he has pictures of him on his boat with friends while fishing (barefoot, at that). I don’t know when the pictures were taken (I should have looked) but it’s disheartening to think he’s on his boat fishing (barefoot) while his foot is injured. If the Clippers were the Lakers or any other big market team it’d be a mini Jay Cutler situation on our hands. Fun.

by yaggiefresh on Jan 31, 2011 10:38 AM PST reply actions

he took his boat out yesterday according to his twitter.

so saying the weight is a problem and going on his boat in the water is really probably the worst thing for it. But then again how much the injury is actually real i wonder, i bet he could play. fire jasen powell.

and actually, he posted a video yesterday of his boat leaving the dock.

http://www.twitvid.com/DS15H

i tried pausing when they show what looks like him driving the boat and he’s not wearing anything on his feet. hmmm, i’ve been on boats and i’m calling major BS going on here with this injury. WTF?

I'm not one to defend Jasen Powell

But if you doubt the injury is real, and you think Kaman could play, how is this one Powell’s fault?

I don't like Jasen Powell, everything is his fault.

That’s besides the point. If a guy can’t play basketball because the bruise on his ankle is taking longer because of the “weight-bearing part of the bone” but can go on a boat in rough water without shoes or protective boots on then it’s bullshit.

and apparently Eric Gordon doesn't trust Jasen Powell either: (and yes i know it's a stretch but i'm going there).

This is true

EJ was told he had a sprain, and then he requested a second opinion from a 3rd party source because it just “didn’t feel right.”

That's not unusual in the NBA, or any pro sport

And I’m not sure that’s an indictment of Powell, but rather the team doctor.

more an indictment of the player's agent who always wants his guy to go to his doctor of choosing.

Hence most surgeries on players aren’t performed on by team doctor’s.

Remember when Derek Fisher made that crazy layup and the Lakers beat us by 1?

That was at least 70% Jasen Powell’s fault. I mean, obviously.

Hmm

if Kaman played maybe the Clips would have been up more than 1 (or losing) so that last shot would be unnecessary.

He could have been in the paint to disallow a lay-up too.

I’m thinking it’s looking more like 100% Jasen Powell’s fault now.

I agree.. That's gotta be great! lol

lame...

That sprain was not that bad. An outside ankle sprain does not cause Tibial bruising. He is just emotionally hurt. It is not liked he jumped in the air and landed on someone’s foot. So tired of these wussies taking their time.

Are we now finally tired of saying we have an "All-Star center"?

No we have a quasi-solid big that takes every other year off. Trade him…but not for crap.

If he takes every other year off,

Then why trade him? I assume this is the year he is taking off so next year he should be banging. I honestly think Kaman is trying to stay healthy for his own benefit, since next year is his last year on his contract and he wants to get a nice sizable (possibly max, assuming there is no radical changes to the union contract) contract when time comes!

Chris Kaman. Max contract??

Pass me what you’re smoking.

Its hard to read the value of Kaman

He puts up enough points to get a big contract and he made the all-star game (putting up 12 and 9 per 36!). There was a year or two where he definitely deserved a max contract, but that was like three years ago now.

Even with a resume with some dust on it as a 7-foot all star who won’t yet be 30 when his contract expires, he is likely in line for a big payday.

Maybe they should keep him around to get his contract year season as a Clipper. If there is any chance of a mini-resurgence for him, that is it.

by John R on Jan 31, 2011 7:01 PM PST up reply actions

I think he's gone after next year

which is why I’ve been open to trading him for awhile now. He’s going to be very difficult to retain and he might be in too steep of a decline by the time EJ and Griffin peak. Trade him now for some valuable assets or players.

One of my annual activities is to see what kind of deals other teams pull off at the trade deadline and wondering if the Clips could have gotten into those deals themselves. With all the picks and prospects the Clips have they should be able to theoretically pull off many of the trades that should happen the next 3 weeks.

It would have to be for someone rockin'

Come playoff time, size and rebounding will be key to get by the Lakers. An extra 7-footer never hurts.

Do not worry. (Matthew 6:27)

but an extra 7 footer with a mysterious bone bruise that sits on the bench does hurt.

He needs to get his ass in the game before anything decent can happen.

Chris Kaman = Evil Genius

maybe he is purposely damaging his trade value so he doesn’t get traded? His trade value is at its lowest right now so moving him now isn’t ideal. He’ll definitely be more motivated next year as he will be playing for his last big money contract. They could try moving him at next year’s trade deadline (although the Clips hopefully would be in a playoff chase then so less likely).

Help us Altered Beast you're our only hope.

if these guys continue getting 3rd opions and the 2nd go against the Clips assestment

…it was be a big red flag. So perhaps this is the best thing; if Dj, Blake and EJ continue to do this until the Clips make a change. Let them continue with a personal trainer. Im sooo glad Blake does yoga, hopefully Ej and Dj take it up too….heck Bledsoe and Aminu as well.
