Dave Berri (the Wages of Wins dude) thinks the players should form a league
Smart man. He also points out that the players have not been aggressive enough, which echoes what the agents have been saying all along.
If the players want to win this, they need to start using their big guns. Right now.

Oooh... I missed this for the Daily Clipper. Good stuff. Rec'd.
The problem with forming a league is system and speed and Dave Berri doesn’t really offer much on that front. Personally, I believe forming an alternative league would be a more efficient way for players to get what they want than any other method. The players don’t have much leverage right now. What better way to get it?
But you and Berri repeat yourself
Same story since July.
My added suggestion was having the richer current and just retired players as owners. I even added a link to 54 players who made more money playing basketball than one of the current owners. This way they can keep it as a players league, by players for players.
“Although it’s unclear when the latest labor dispute between players and owners in the National Basketball Association will end, it’s very clear that the owners will ultimately win. "
This is true though. Even where the players have moved to already the owners have won. Thanks union and agents. Keep up the great work!
Not Berri - back then he wanted cities to own the leagues - silly
"[Fans are] not technically a lot of times savvy. They don't understand and they don't weigh issues the way that [I] weigh them."
Mike Dunleavy, Sr.
Can't And1 put together a pro-league?
They’ve already got some sponsorship money, TV prodn ability and enough existing “infrastructure” to do something even if it folds in a year – it would be And1’s best year ever.
A new league would be awesome
I personally hate the NBA. Maybe basketball can become respectable again and we can see our players win something. I hope the players figure out that they have the power. They bring the entertainment and should start a player owned league that can give the fans what they want, Real Basketball.

will this be real basketball or another harlem globetrotters exhibition..just like all of these things they’ve been having this summer. I rather watch no names that play real basketball with real officiating than big name guys that play no defense and just dunk the ball..with biased officiating.
maybe we get some ABA flash back in the game
I can’t say for sure but there is a big difference between a friendly exhibition and a new league where your name is on the line.
