Nash will want out of PHX when the Lock-Out ends.

Anyone who follows Steve Nash on Twitter will see his recent tweets have been pretty damn candid.  It boggles the mind the players have waited this long to say something.

Fisher/Hunter's Tweet campaign is worse than pathetic.  We need players telling it like it is.  Check out Nash's tweets.

Having said that, does anyone see Nash playing good soldier for Robert Sarver any longer?  He's the worst of the bunch.  Below is a very realistic 3 team trade I could see happening between us, the Hawks, and the Suns.

Chris Kaman to ATL.
Josh Smith to PHX (where they resign Aaron Brooks and pair them with Gortat).
Steve Nash to LAC.

Might be some more moving parts  Like Aminu to ATL and Childress to LAC (both moves I'm more than cool with).

We're Division Rivals, but Sarver already let Rick Welts go to GSW, so maybe this isn't too crazy.

We could keep Mo coming off the bench or use him as trade bait.

This seems like a win for everybody. Gomes could STILL be the starter and we’d at least make the WCF.

Josh Smith is going to the Suns.

Kaman is going to ATL so that Horford can play his natural position.

Iggy has everything we need

…SF, relatively young, contract not too long, can shoot the 3, can play defense, athletic, can handle the rock/pass

….but Steve Nash just makes people better and brings a winning mentality. For all we know, Nash might turn AFA into a better version of Iggy within one season or two. and also take Bledsoe under his wing…Bledsoe would be like Tony Parker and Chris Paul combined…with hops.

and think….if the Baron-Blake lobs were so sexy, then the Nash-Blake lobs might be X-rated!

Blake may have issues with his brother getting cut by them.

I doubt that

I’m sure Blake knows that Taylor had a slim chance of making the team and even if he did hold a grudge against the Suns it would be against the FO not Nash.

I don't think Blake likes the Suns period.

It was obvious whenever they played, Blake just seemed to play more intense. I wonder if it was because they cut his brother.

by tenkaistar on Oct 12, 2011 11:22 AM PDT up reply actions

haha

I actually thought Grant Hill did as good of a job defending blake as almost anyone I’d seen all year. For some reason I just seem to remember Hill and Chuck Hayes doing a good job on Blake. Maybe that’s the reason I think those guys are the ones I’d targets as free agents, haha. Things do get chippier when you’re being defended well (besides the obvious jersey tugs out of bounds, and flying spears).

by osamu on Oct 12, 2011 12:49 PM PDT up reply actions

I don’t know how Hayes gets away with fouling so much..especially in Houston. When they came to L.A. he was usually in foul trouble. There was a game in which Grant was grabbing Blake’s shorts..its was ridiculous how Grant was trying to stop Blake, but failed.

by tenkaistar on Oct 12, 2011 11:09 PM PDT up reply actions

yea, it's a very fine line

between fouling and good defense. I’m sure Bruce Bowen would attest to that. But when you feel like you’re being fouled, but the defender is either “getting away” with it, or being “sly” enough to fool the refs, it definitely would get in your head. Sadly it’s such a fine line, that it’s nearly impossible for the refs to be consistent. It’s pretty much to the point that every ref will call it differently, so the best defenders will push the limit to figure out what they can get away with and know how to make fouls look less blatant..

The clippers did have success last time they brought in a cagey vet PG in a trade

I think Nash would be a perfect option however I do worry that his health might deteriorate once he leaves the world class Suns medical staff.

does this meen we would also get a 1st round pick

that will be unprotected in X amount of years, in which the draft class will be very strong and there is a high chance of getting a top 10 talent??

I love Nash.

He may be the best passer in the last 10 years but he spends half the game laying down next to the bench in agony with a chronic bad back. Does he have a couple years left?

even if is body can't take it all anymore

he’s still super smart enough to adjust in a way to still be effected. plus i’d hope that if he spends a short time here…his knowledge can help our own “point” guards

There's still the Phoenix trainers...

I guess they’d have to be part of any trade.
Even if Nash isn’t on the floor all the time, he’d add so much. I think you have to give them some young pieces, Kaman plus? Aminu? I wouldn’t think twice.

jumping the gun...

Nash+(young) Joe Johnson+Amare didnt make it…

will (older) Nash+Gordon+Blake? maybe just a better chance at best

with that said, the trainers arent getting paid during the lockout too right? i hope they are as angry as Nash

they probably could have won it all

if joe johnson stayed healthy.

then there was that incident years later when horry checked nash…

by jon y on Oct 11, 2011 3:33 PM PDT up reply actions

I dont see why Atlanta would do this

They dont really have anyone at the 3 to replace Smith, and he is a far better overall talent, despite his troubles, then Kaman.

It certainly wouldnt help them either become contenders, or rebuild yet again, and they are probably going to do one of those two things.

by NewCavsfan on Oct 11, 2011 3:51 PM PDT reply actions

Um.

Horford has been whining for years about the team getting a true 5 so he can play the 4. Smith doesn’t play the 3 for ATL anyway. They have Marvin Williams who can start again.

"Buckle your seat belts, folks. This one's going down to the wire." -The inimitable Ralph Lawler.

by Gordon for President on Oct 11, 2011 4:18 PM PDT up reply actions

It wouldnt make them a contender in a top heavy Eastern Conference

Nor would it start a rebuilding process.

Atlanta is probably looking for either a really big trade/FA- Deron or CP3 level, or stocking draft picks/young players to start over again.

They are in the awful spot of middling playoff team, and without much upside on their team outside of maybe Teague, they need to either get better or get younger in a hurry, and Kaman doesnt help them in either way.

by NewCavsfan on Oct 11, 2011 6:41 PM PDT up reply actions

i wonder if they would skip out on D-Will or CP3

so save face on admitting the fact they should have picked them in the draft when they had the chance

…like how it took Dumars so long to drop Darko…

I Am Witness to the 1st BLAKE GRIFFIN Triple-Double! And the 2nd Triple-Double!

by KidJustin on Oct 12, 2011 9:05 AM PDT up reply actions

problem is the

100mil they owe to one Joe Johnson, doesn’t really leave them the kind of cap space and just overall financial mentality to start a rebuilding process. I could easily see them letting go of Josh Smith, especially if you included Aminu or something, as a young talent with as much potential as any draft pick.

If Nash was sent to LAC then for sure I’d want Hill too. They could be this teams sammie/mobley. Kinda hard to see them making a run for a championship, but I mean, on paper at least, they’d look like easily one of the top 4 or 5 teams in the west.

by osamu on Oct 12, 2011 10:25 AM PDT up reply actions

If we give Aminu away, I would rather get Dudley from Phoenix.

He’s much younger, plays good D, and is a great 3pt shooter, something Hill still has trouble with.

by Christian Vielman on Oct 12, 2011 12:45 PM PDT up reply actions

well, yea

but HIll is a FA, meaning you don’t really have to give up anything EXTRA to get him. “Giving” away Aminu, just depends what it would take to bring Nash.

Even Nash is a risky move since he’s probably only good for a year or two. Seems like the FO wants a group to build around, rather than contend right away, but I think building a winning mentality can go a long way.

by osamu on Oct 12, 2011 3:38 PM PDT up reply actions

its a debate on the front court...

Kaman+Horford+Williams
or
Horford+Smith+Williams (atl: Zaza+Horford+Smith)

while the drop between Williams and Smith is a lot…

the rise in Kaman as the center over anyone + Horford in his natural position is much greater

I Am Witness to the 1st BLAKE GRIFFIN Triple-Double! And the 2nd Triple-Double!

by KidJustin on Oct 12, 2011 9:07 AM PDT up reply actions

I agree

I dont think I would do this, and I dont think the Suns would either.

While Kaman is always risky, Nash is getting old, and his defense will make Mo Williams look like Scottie Pippen out there. Also, I dont know how he will hold up once the Phoenix trainers wont be tending to him anymore. They really are miracle workers over there.

by NewCavsfan on Oct 12, 2011 4:32 PM PDT up reply actions

There's even audio in 2k12 talking about a nash trade!!

I’ve traded Kaman, Bledsoe and a 2nd rounder for Nash and Lopez (i think I came out just peacy on that trade, after signing Battier). When I play the suns, the commentators talk about the Nash trade I just made. Saying that the Suns were on the decline and trading Nash signaled the start of a reboulding fase, and that it was a good gesture to trade away Nash to a team with a better chance of winning (i’m paraphrasing here)
The creators of 2k12 actually took the time to implement the discussion on the trade that hasn’t been made. Awesome!
