Richard Jefferson as an interim solution at the 3?
Gonna jump the gun and post about the actual team instead of the lockout. I can't take it anymore!
So...looks like an amnesty clause (or clauses) is going to be a part of whatever the final agreement is.
Aside from lamenting how shitty it is we made the Baron trade when in hindsight we didn't have to, I was thinking Richard Jefferson would be a nice interim solution for manning the 3.
He's an efficient scorer, plays smart, and can stretch defenses with the 3. He's also from LA so perhaps that adds to our appeal (in addition to the chance to immediately start).
I have no idea where we stand cap-wise in the (eventual) new system, but I can't imagine RJ is going to demand too much money (especially considering he'd have just pocketed a buyout.)
You lock him in for two maybe three years max, then pick up a high-ceiling three (Barnes, Q. Miller, Gilchrest) with the Minny pick and we're golden :)
Thoughts? If not RJ, who are you eyeing out of the likely buyout pool? Arenas (also an LA guy)? Marvin Williams?

I was just going to post this!
I agree RJ could be a good fit albeit only temporarily! plus he wont cost as musch . He’d be an awesome wepon to have alongside Blake and EJ.
if not, what about Rashard Lewis? He could stretch the floor and hit some clutch threes! Its not like we got a ton of guys on the team who can do that…
What do you guys think? i wonder if Olshey is even considering these guys? At least thinking proactively…Will the damn season start already?
I really like the Reshard Lewis idea
He played so well next to Dwight Howard, I can imagine that he’d play similarly next to Blake. Can he defend the SF position? In any case he could help facilitate a small line up situation with Blake playing the 5, which is likely if we play an up tempo offense.
I have seen this several times
But all I can really think is “meh”. Sure, he would be an improvement on Gomes on the offensive side of the ball, but at this point in his career he wouldnt be a huge improvement, and his defense is not very good.
Even if he got amnestied by the Spurs, he would still want a fair amount of money, and he would probably only be 5th on our totem pole after Blake, EJ, Mo, and Kaman (and possibly DJ if he would ever develop some moves).
If he was willing to sign for a fairly small amount then I might pull the trigger, but if I were Olshey, my eyes would still be locked firmly on Iggy. He is the best fit for this team all around, and would probably bring the biggest improvement to the Clippers of any SF not named LeBron James or Kevin Durant (possibly Rudy Gay).
lol might rashard lewis be nice
probly to much money and i like iggy and i think with thw sale of the sixers it could happen but his salary is tough i think if we wait good things will come i really think chris paul would love to come to play in la with BG and EJ and the minny pick is going to be a stud in that huge draft class.
Clippers Have A Good Chance
at getting a top five pick or better next June.
I would rather have a player like Harrison Barnes, Quincy Miller, Michael Gilchrist or possibly even a favorite of mine Adonis Thomas all SFs rather than sign Jefferson.
The first three are projected top ten picks next June and we shall see about Thomas as the 2011-12 NCAA season rolls along.
JMO
i agree the draft will be crazy
i know we need a sf and we have deandre jordan but im a big fan of andre drummond i think he can be the next dwight/amare but im just talking miller barnes mcadoo jones would be a better choice
Drummond Is Certainly Considered One Of the Top Picks Next Season
However let me just toss this out there.
Most would agree that Okafor has been the best Center ever to come out of the UConn program.
UConn is not noted for producing top notch NBA Centers. It will be very interesting to see how Calhoun uses and develops Drummond.
UConn played American International yesterday and Drummond finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds
I'm leary of drafting a center so high
especially one who going to spend only one year in college. I think Drummond might end up being the best player in the draft but I think he will take time to develop. I would much rather get a guy like Barnes who could contribute immediately than wait on another center to develop.

I Agree With You On This
I was just commenting on Drummond because he was mentioned in the post that I replied to.
I admit to not watching many NC games last year
but didn’t Barnes perform below expectations? Any concerns he may turn out to be another Marvin Williams who was drafted early on hype and potential.

As I Recall He Started Slowly and Then Picked It Up
Here is his game log for last season
From Jan 29th on he averaged just under 20 PPG and about 6 RPG
He definitely started off under expectations
but towards the end of the season (and especially in the tournament) he blew up and played to the level that most people expected he’d be at.

lol it could be
PG: Chris Paul- Eric Bledsoe-Warren
SG: Eric Gordon- Randy Foye-Leslie
SF: Barnes*- Aminu-?
PF: Blake Griffin-?-Thompkins
C: Deandre Jordan ??
*Barnes Miller Jones Mcadoo etc
Thats a hell of a team people say Chris Paul would lov to goto NYK but why not in LA where CP3 loves and to play with EG & BG with those 3 and that draft pick w DJ EB AFA.
How do you think we are going to get CP3 without giving up the Mini pick?
In any trade with CP3 we would most likely have to give up the pick with Kaman as well as likely take on Okafor’s contract.

Jefferson would not be a bad pick up. He doesn’t work well in a system like San Antonio’s. But with us he would have more freedom and could do the things that are more of his strengths like slashing and hitting some jumpers. He’s still athletic and would do well in out style of play. I would prefer to draft a good SF. I don’t like R. Lewis…big pass on him.
I still think Battier gives us that best glue guy at the 3.
I love his toughness on the defensive side and he can know down those corner
three’s.
People say hes old
but hes not that old. I feel like he could play a Grant Hill type roll into his late 30s. He would be a great pick up for this team.
How bout Lamar Odom?
Trade Mo Williams for Odom straight up! Odom could be that versatile sf that can handle the ball and grab rebounds. His shot looks much better now and can shoot the 3. And maybe Mike Brown like Mo from their days in Cleveland? I don’t know just throwing this out there. HAHA.
I'd totally do this...
Lamar >>>>> Williams

To "shake it up"?
GMs do a lot of stupid things, and I feel like Lamar’s always been underrated.

I wouldn't. I despise LO and his attitude towards the Clips.
Proud member of Club FTR. falconPUNCH! for president!
I actually feel a little bad for LO these days.

And lately my hatred has been channeled away from Brand and Odom, and all towards Andre Miller, as far as ex-Clippers go.

LO Back In A Clippers Uniform
Blake, DJ and LO would make a pretty good starting front court. but the Clippers would be in woeful need of at least a passable starting NBA PG and IMO neither Foye or Bledsoe fills the bill with respect to that though Bledsoe might some day.
Jamal Tinsley is making a comeback haha
he was decent starting pg a couple of years ago
Isn't that what the Minny pick and/or trading Kaman is for?
I assume if you make this move to get Odom, you also make a second move to get a PG.
"Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be." - John Wooden
True...
I wonder a package of Kaman, Minny pick, and Foye or Gomes or Aminu for CP3 and Okafor will go through or not. And they can maybe sign a Battier or Prince. I think IF all my suggested trade/moves go through the Clippers will have a good decade.
C: DJ/Okafor
PF: BG/Rhino/Thompkins
SF: Odom/Gomes or Aminu
SG: EJ/Foye/Leslie
PG: CP3/Bledsoe
I Would Love To See CP3 In A Clippers Uniform
EJ
Blake
DJ
CP3
They can fill out the other 10 or 11 with anyone they want to.
