Marc Gasol anyone?

Looking at the Memphis Grizzlies pay roll this next year, I really find it hard to believe that they can offer Marc Gasol a competitive contract.

Currently they are at $37,363,810 with out Zach Randolph's mistake of a contract which is a 4 year $71 million dollar contract. Total that will put Memphis at $55,113,810. If they sign Marc Gasol at the rumored estimate of 5 yrs 60 million they would have a total salary $67,113,810... I don't see that happening because that would take them out of getting that shared revenue check that most small market teams use as their life blood.

With that said I hope GSW over pays for DeAndre Jordan... What they Didn't lear their lesson with Corey Maggette?

You never know, maybe Marc Gasol can just take over the mortgage on his brothers house

I want us to bring back DJ

If we do, then we arent getting Gasol.

Gasol is a better player, but at this point, I think he is going to get max, and we cant afford to give him that.

Someone has to educate me a bit on this

From what I found out online, the current payroll for our roster is about 52 Million with the signing of Caron Butler. The cap room via Wikipedia says the cap room is 58 Million. The only reason we are able to sign DJ to a contract above 6 million is because we currently own his Bird rights, otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to offer- and match- any contract with DJ. Furthermore, that is exactly why if we plan to sign DJ, it’s best we sign a FA first. Otherwise, we have to sign him to the league minimum, veterans minimum, taking a bit more (but slightly – was it 10%?) in a sign and trade, or the Mid Mid Level exception.

Someone is going to need to correct me if I’m wrong, or at least correct my numbers, but from what I know of, we can’t afford Gasol, and if we could, Memphis definitely can also.

And so I left Deandre’s contract because of Thompkins and Leslie, and added in Caron Butler.
