Worth adding: Clips would only put in Minn #1 pick if CP3 is there for long term.

Smart
I really hope we get CP3, but it doesnt look like there’s a reason to start upping our offer unless we get confirmation he’s staying. Good move
Indeed, quite smart.
Indubitably so.
Bravo.

This
Rondo + our pick + Green > Kaman expiring + AFA + EBled
Proudly enduring the pain since the days of Bill Walton's foot.
Why won't we include the Minny pick regardless? SMH

+1
send the pick over and let cp3 see how he enjoys tossing lobs to blake and deandre in hollywood. if all goes well, he should re-sign.
Could we get a Verbal Commitment
For him to opt in to the final year of his deal for the Minny pick? Give him two good years with BG, EJ, and DJ. He wont want to leave then.
I dont get what CP3
is thinking. It appeared that he said the Clips were his second choice after the Lakers (i guess 3rd after Knicks). But doesnt seem to have a chance to sign with either in the offseason. So what is he waiting for. If he says he’ll stay with the Clips, this deal gets done. Whats his deal?
He's got to face reality
Ill bet CP comes around on extending w/ Clippers. We were already on his short list of teams, he has to look at the landscape and realize NY blew their chance at signing him this summer when they signed TC (oh the irony), LAL cant make a good trade and also wont have the $ to sign him.
We are the perfect fit for CP in the short term and long term, and have the assets that Stern outlined in his memo (Kaman expiring, Min pick, cheap young talent w upside in Aminu, Bled)

I don't get it.
He has nowhere to go. The Lakers and Knicks are no longer possible for him. Trade the damn pick.

Not possible in Free Agency, I should say.

bravo Neil
don’t do the trade unless we get the extension signed in place. Why salvage the Clippers future for 1 season of CP3.
While I agree that Paul ought to extend
I would trade the Minni pick if Paul agrees to exercise his player option for next year

How come we don't just wait?
CP3 is pretty adamant about opting out next year and at present his desired teams (NYK, LAL) don’t have the cap space to sign him. I don’t think any other team out there have the same appeal we do. We have a really good and young team with a core of BG, EG, and DJ. If we hold onto our Minny pick we will possibly get much better. LAC have the big city draw that CP3 is looking for. So it only makes sense for CP3 to sign with us if he becomes a free agent next year. I know it might be a gamble to wait a year and try to sign CP3 in free agency, but we would get to keep our young guys (AFA and EBled) and most importantly our MInny pick. I think its a small risk and big reward if all the cards fall our way. The worst case is we lose out on CP3. Best case, we get CP3, keep our young’uns and the MInny pick!!! If that do happens I think we can say it will be a DYNASTY in the making.
It DOES make sense to wait, but NO wants him out
So why not just get him now and not wait a season?

doesnt make sense to wait
Because the team that trades for him will have a huge advantage in signing him because they will be able to offer a bigger contract
i dont know...
maybe… if you think he wants to re-sign with you. If he is pretty clear that he would’ve re-upped with the Lakers and won’t give any commitment to the Clips. May mean something to you. Minny pick is worth a lot at this point
I guess i worry about adelman's ability to win with minimal talent.
You could argue that the Twolves have more talent and potential than the rockets had.

Life is a risk
Minny pick for CP3 is one worth taking

This is almost a NO brainer (no pun intended)
Include the pick and get this damn trade done already!
Its freakin Chris paul!
As bolt said its a risk worth taking
BG32 with CP3?
How could he not sign an extension…haha ;)
